Hello World,
N.E.X. WarGames will be open today (Thursday) for testing, it will also be open Saturday and Sunday, release is expected next week, please come along and take a look, all suggestions will be heard, please see below for a description of the zone.
N.E.X. WarGames
The zones main theme is a flag game with 30 flags, these are picked up and carried for 200 seconds, each kill or extra flag obtained resetting the drop timer, there are many bases dotted around the arena, each one with a different characteristic, players are to try and hoarde their flags in a base, or scatter them as they desire, the object is to hold all 30 flags until they drop, territory rewards will be given also fort players who hoard just 5 flags at a base or location and defend it for a time. Proximity bombs are not greenable but can be bought for 100000 from a safe zone, there are negative greens in the arena such as warp and engine shut down.
There are bases in the arena that cannot be simply entered, you must find the warp zone for that base in order to reach the itnernal area of it.
The ball game will also be running with a reward of 1000 points for every goal you score, but beware, the goals are in tricky locations so it won't be a simple task!
In most cases a minimum of two direct bomb hits is require to kill, but as ships differ so much this cannot be guaranteed, the weasel for instance, is extremely fast, but has only 450 energy initially.
The thing that will set this zone apart from the rest is that each ship has a very unique method of play, but they are all even in their advantages and disadvantages, see below for a taste of the varying ship settings.
WarBird
Although it can't see bombs on radar it has a tactical advantage, it is the best at open combat in the field, it has fairly average settings in comparison to the rest and so is the best all-round fighter, energy 1700-2500, the WarBird can hold a maximum of 2 turrets, MaxMines=2, RepelMax=5, BurstMax=2, DecoyMax=2, ThorMax=2, BrickMax=3, RocketMax=2, PortalMax=2. The WarBird spawns with a portal, brick and repel every time. Though it's bombs do not bounce they are EMP, and so are an effective means of neutralising an enemies ability to fight back.
It is capable of L3 single barrel weapons but spawns with L1 and can see mines on radar, it's bombs also launch at a faster speed than other ships.
Weasel
The Weasel is fast, very fast, but it does lack the ability to make quick changes in direction, it has a lower rotation than most ships and so makes an ideal scout, but in open combat it lacks the ability to move out of the way of faster bombs, the weasel's most prominent characteristic is it's size, it is half-size to the rest of the ships and so as a scout again it is able to infiltrate enemy bases without being detected, though it is not attachable, one advantage it has is a good tactical strike, launching a bomb consumes nearly all of the weasel energy, but the bomb is able to bounce 8 times from a wall and it is an EMP and so it can quickly go in, neutralise the enemies recharge, then run out before being attacked, thus allowing a greater onslaught from your teammates to go in and cleanup. The weasel uses L1 bombs and bullets only and so it weak in comparison but it's speed makes it able to make repeated EMP strikes and then finish them off with bullets, though any direct attack from opposition would render the weasel scrap metal.
Lancaster
The lancaster is the turret type of ship, slower than rolling up a hill with an anvil strapped to your back, it wombles along, but beware of this cumbersome beast as its L3 guns can fire at you for a long time, you will be dodging bullets with your fingers aflame if you draw too near, however it can also launch L3 explosive bombs that have 3 bounces, and so makes a useful abse defense ship if placed strategically.
That's about it, there are many more features in the zone i am certin you will enjoy, such as the leviathan being very slow until a turret attaches, then it speeds up and can be a formidable weapon.
The level itself has many interesting features also, i could write here all day but you would never read it, so just come down and spare a few minutes for your future favourite zone, see you there!
Regards,
Noirenex. |

Sounds neat and cool and all, and when I get back from work (15 hours, starting midnight thursday/zero hour friday till closure at friday 3pm, aaah!!!) I'll give it a try.
I have but one, simple, question: are the settings super newb zone mass-non-stop-fire kind? _________________ Replacing yazour untill the whore returns.

No there are no extreme bombers, ships very unique, jav can launch 2 spawned in rapid succession but uses all energy, ip is 88.107.72.212 port 7777, it is listed in the zones though if you want to add from there. See you ingame!

Add it from the zones listing, not through IP/Port |

Well think about it? Read it over. It just sounds like a zone that took 2 days to work on. Im not trying to put it completely down. He write a very good persuasive essay.
I need to try it out though before I can completely trash it(joke). |

I thought the settings were pretty fun, but the map defenitely needs a lot of work and the point of the zone(game type is some sort of flagging?) wasn't clear. Settings were good except blastradius was much too high if you ask me. |

Thanks for the feedback, i agree map needs work, i plan on having a pinball event, the walls being very bouncy, but i'm not sure if i whould make it a race, or some kind of CTF. If anyone has any suggestions, please post and i can adjust, below is a list of ToDo's.
ToDo
Tileset Modifications
Shipset Modifications
Make a clearer objective
Continue testing settings for fairness
Implement some pretty LVZ
Reprogram bot some more
Add dueling arena + bot
There are a few people helping me also who's names i mention in the news file |

Your zone's inaccessible.
Check that your router is forwarding packets for the port you're using (7777 per recent dirserv d/l).
There's also some heavy ploss coming one hop before your PC.
You do realise, BTW, that DSL is not a suitable zone hosting pipe. |

Agreed. The settings are fun (and somewhat crazy), but the map is a bit... wierd. By the way, I managed to get in the base without going through the warp points which you said you had to, if you wanted to get in?
The big base needs alot of work at the moment; it's like a maze. |

I gonna completely scrap that big base i have much better idea's now hehe, it's a bit confusing to play that base, and i am only temporarily hosting on DSL, i have a couple of offers on hosting but won't be submitting for at least a week... The zone was down earlier as i was making some adjustments but the new IP is 88.107.69.215 - it should stay static for the next 2 weeks but i can't promise anything. |

That a lot to do in a week, Noir. Consider pushing up the release date. |

Glad to hear you are scraping the big base, it's worth it. Good try at the bases though, since you did them yourself instead of asking for help.
I will keep on checking in the zone every now and then though. Good job man. |
