Server Help

I've been looking for a BB to implement into a website.
When I got back at the punBB website and tried to get some more information about punBB the more information I gathered the more I think the project author/maintainer is a fucking idiot.

I appreciate the fact that he did an attempt to develop a semi-phpBB BB.
But what he's doing here is just stupid.
And if I tell him, he'll just reply with "Huh?".

I can see why his boards have even more security leaks than phpBB, I wouldn't trust someone like him to write code I'll be running on a server.

So, what do you think?
Currently thousands of worms are trying to get in to take control of BBs through security bugs, an unpatched version of phpBB or PunBB won't survive any longer than 10 minutes.

I'd like a secure (people are still finding security bugs in phpBB, so I'd rather something which was actually written by someone with common sense) package with a load of features.

What teambarry.com is trying to make seems promising, even though it's not out yet.
What would you people recommend? SMF? A hacked version of phpBB? Something paid?

SMF is free, Invision isn't anymore, Grav.

I switched from phpbb to SMF on my site, and what most impressed me is that the conversion went over nearly flawlessly. SMF's source is also a lot less hackish than phpbb and doesn't support PHP3, which means much cleaner code without the backwards-compatable mess of phpbb.

SMF is still an autistic forum system.
I've used it.
I decided against it.

And invision is gay.


phpBB might not be very secure, but it is also free and rather nice.
With a very large supportive community, fully moded packages enough theme&styles to burn a good 100MBs and then some.
For an open source free project, it is sure a hell more than you would expect to get.

My personal favorite is vB.
Very nice system (warez it if you gotta? =P just don't end up like novalogic ).

ikonboard is also a wannabe used by losers.
And UBB became defunct years ago.

Off-topic:
I hate whichever group of jackass housewives who first came across that million dollar homepage and made it popular. Seriously, who the FUCK would visit a webpage which is nothing more than a giant billboard? (and more importantly, who would look at these miniature ads and then click through to them? fucking twats).

Secondly, the fact that such douche baggary is going to become an internet fad that im going to be forced to tolerate for the next few years pisses me off. I hope everyone directly involved in this idea falls into a 17th century well and dies.
