I have read almost everything so far on Directory Server issues. My server is up and running and works perfectly, but I can't seem to figure out why it will not appear on the Directory Server list. I only have one zone, but for some reason, it just won't show up. Here are my settings. If you figure something out, please tell me... Its so frustrating...
[Directory]
IP=sscentral.sscuservers.net sscentral.subspacehq.com sscentral.subspace.net
Description=Best place to have a Map put up, and play against other experienced players. Ultimate battles await you in this Server.
//What you want to have for the description of zone
NamePassword=*********
//Pick anything you want
Port=2020

In addition, I believe the directory servers you're using do not exist.
Use "sscentral.subspace.inet.fi" instead. _________________ Replacing yazour untill the whore returns.

no luck... but i changed that to what you said, and then the zone turned red an inaccessable. I had to change the settings back to what I originally had just to play by manually imputting the server.

1 more question. Is there any way to put the server on the player database, because the biller doesn't seem to want to save character names and IDs. If it involves the directory server, I'm screwed. If it doesn't, please help me.

You should have no troubles getting the zone on the directory server.
Also, IIRC, set the NamePassword to "cane".
If you can download the zone from the dir-serv's zone list, however, if appears in red then it means that you are either behind a router or a firewall, possibly both and that untill the situation is rectified, none will be able to connect to your zone from the outside (other terminals on the same network as you may enter, though).
If it's a firewall and you have the access, you may turn it off.
If it's a router and you have the access, you may set it to foreward packets coming through specific port to the PC which run the subgame.
To enter your zone manualy, you may circumvent the zone list, press the "add custom" button, fill in whatever names you desire, the port per server.ini [Misc] and under IP place "127.0.0.1".
You will then be able to enter the zone localy.
The biller is a seperated software from the dir-serv.
Which biller are you using, and what are your server.ini [billing] settings and your biller's .ini settings?
Remember to mask passwords prior to pressing the submit button.
The largest known player database the SSC network uses is a private biller and requires joining via applications, there are also qualification terms which must be met, otherwise your application will be rejected.

"sscentral.subspace.inet.fi" is the same as "sscentral.sscuservers.net"

1st, I have absolutely no problem manually entering my zone's settings. The zone always comes up green.
2nd, my IP under [misc] is 192.168.0.1 (nothing else seems to work, but I'll give it a shot)
3rd, here are the billing settings: [Billing]
LogMessages=0
IP=localhost
Password=*********
//What is the billing pw in the subbill.ini
ServerName=UA Battledome
//Zone name
Port=3000
ServerId=4483
//Make the same as in [Misc] Port=
GroupId=1
ScoreId=0
//Make the same as in [Misc] Port=
ReconnectTime=12000
AttemptTime=6400

Cyan~Fire, thanks for the link, but that doesn't have any of the issues I am currently having. I can connect to the billing server, no problem there, but it will not save any names or scores whenever I close the server down for a reboot or settings change.

You said your zone is read. That problem is on myy link.
About the biller, you close subgame before the biller, right? And are you using subbill or SSB2 like you should be?
(When are you going to include SSB2 in server.zip, MGB?)

If you're using SubBill:
Run the zone once.
Grant yourself some points.
Then alt tab to the biller window, press shift+12.
This will save scores, user data and will shutdown the biller.
Restart the biller and everything should be saved from there on.
Also, does it say that the zone connected to the biller, in both subgame and the biller windows?
I.E. something like this:

File downloaded or viewed 81 time(s)

Yes, there is a difference, SSB2 uses far less CPU and makes it easier to diagnose problems. Use it and tell us what it says. (If it says "Invalid Login" you probably need to set your GroupID > 0.)

I used SSB2 already. And I did it again. Everything works fine. It logs players, scores, everything. The only problem I'm having now is still the directory server. No matter what I do, it will not get on the list...

FIANLLY!!!! I got it on the directory server. Originally, I had set my [Directory]port=4991. But when it stopped working, I changed it to 1020. Then I changed back a few times with different settings, and FINALLY!!!! With the settings I have now, I got it onto the directory server, and to top it all off, my player scores and names are finally being saved. Thanks everyone here for your help.
