Sorry for being newbish, but i dont know what a DNS is, or does. When i try to hook up my PS2 online, it connects to the internet, goes to a DNAS Connection screen and it says "connecting" and in about 3 mins an error comes up about something being wrong with the DNS connection. Anyone have any idea, post away.

DNS resolves names like forums.minegoboom.com into an IP address that the computer knows how to talk to.

Do you have a router on your network?

I don't really know much about it, but what I know is that a DNS server keeps a list of host/domainnames (like minegoboom.com) and the IP address which they belong to.
A domainname will have to be resolved to its IP address(es) before a host (computer) can make a connection to the other host.
Before the connection attempt is made, the host asks the DNS server for the IP representation of the other host.
The DNS server will check if it knows, if not it will ask another until it does, then it'll return the IP address.

Because (normally) a computer has to be able to locate a DNS server, you must give it the IP address of the DNS server.
I am guessing your PS2 doesn't know where to reach a DNS server.

I don't know how PS2's network settings are supposed to be setup, but did you specify its IP address somewhere? If it got an IP address automatically it probably used DHCP to get one.
Although, DHCP should've given your PS2 an IP of a DNS server too.

If you have the ability to configre the network settings of your PS2 you should try to make it use one, maybe like your router or one your computer is using.

In Windows, you can see which DNS servers it uses by doing the following:
Go to start -> run.
Enter "cmd" to open a console.
In the console enter ipconfig /all to see what the IP addresses are of the DNS servers your computer uses.

Try and go through the ISP setup again on your PS2 network setup disc. Then again, the DNAS service is a service of only Sony's, so it's best to ask them.
