Try lowering your resolution, try playing in windowed mode if you are playing fullscreen (or fullscreen if you are playing windowed).
Click View/Options/ tab 'Graphics' / try lowering your Color Depth. (And you can try unchecking different items at the same page)
On the 'Other' tab you can try unchecking 'Use Optional Level Graphics and Sound'.
On the 'Display' tab you can try setting different parts to 'Text'.
Let me know if it works. _________________

Summit I wrote for Halo:
About FPS lag, and how to cure.
FPS stands for FRAME PER SECOND.
You’re screen is probably moving very slowly and sluggish, and you are not lagging.
Main reason? Your graphic card sucks.
How to fix?
Cure 1: Usually if you change your resolution, it really helps. For standard try 800x600.
Cure 2: Try going lower than 800x600; 512x384 is guaranteed to work you will just need to get rid of the chat (?lines=0) and F1 (hit f1 multiple times)
Cure 3: If you don’t want to go lower than 800x600 go to windows mode, that always helps.
Cure 4: Replace your graphic card; it really does suck.
Cure 5: Place your CPU carefully over an edge of 32 story building, carefully take a metal bat, and blissfully swing as hard as you can causing a strong enough reaction for the CPU to fly off the edge. Check back down on your CPU and be happy, and ask your parents for a new one. _________________ X-SSCI Halo CTF Administrator

Press esc and then "f" when in-game. It will show in red numbers near the top center. |

Does windowed mode really improve over fullscreen? I'd think it would just have to work harder, actually. _________________ This help is informational only. As said, you can use lower resolution (since when is this an acceptable solution).
There are a lot of graphical options you can turn off.
There are also a lot of advanced settings where you can choose if to force certain graphical elements into the GFX card buffer.
Eitherway, at the end, getting a better 3D card will be the only long(er)-term remedy. _________________ It matters if you just keep trying. |

Anything beyond your refresh rate is a waste. So in general, 60+ is about as good of a target as you'll need. |

Indeed.
In addition, below 30 fps your gaming experience will begin to suffer whilst reaching 11fps, as a pit-bottom dead-mark, your game will act-up half frozen. |

Advanced Options window
Check Avoid page flipping
Check No frame rate limit
Uncheck Software emulation
Doing this made my avg FPS from 60-100 to 300-500. |

Anything > 100 FPS is a waste of CPU. Continuum updates its physics 100 times/sec. So, for example, if you are getting 200 FPS, it's just drawing the exact same screen twice each time. _________________ 4,691 irradiated haggis! |
