well this is not all the time but I can't play 'memory-sucking'games like Civilization 3 and so on to give you a view about what kind of games I mean.
it's sometimes at low memory, meaning I can have like one program open, unless it will look like shit
or, it's slow as hell but I can have a bit more programs open.
I have 128Mb RAM
I know that ur first thing u say/think is to buy a new comp, but I don't have that much money and I don't want to buy a new comp yet either, I think I rather want to get it working like it should.. I have played these games before, without any problems.
I guess i might have to format my comp too, but then I lose all my files and so (yea I know u know that)...
I have ran both virus and spyware scans, I don't have any pay-antivirus, I have Avast! and one that is run from the internet (it atleast looked good, free and so on, removed some stuff...)
thx in advance

Yes, get rid of all files you don't need anymore. Go to Start -> Run.. -> msconfig
Go to startup, and disable most things apart from Microsoft system processes. This cuts startup times, and will probably stop most of them taking up anymore processes.
If in doubt, save everything important to a CD or floppy disk, and then reformat. _________________ Haha SpecShip |

I'd do what newb said plus run a defrag on the drive and maybe upgrade to atleast 512 megs of ram.
I fixed all my lagging computer problems with 1280 megs of ram
Also look into a better graphics card if you dont already have a good one. |

128mb is barely enough to run Win2k, get more memory. |

We know you're just posting those specs to look cool, 1st, but fine.
Heh, "DDR: 18,6GB", I doubt you have 18.6 GB DDR", you mean "HDD".
You just need ~ 512MB RAM and your computer will be fine for a while. |

Defrag is pretty useless. I just do it for anal-retentiveness, but having a fragmented disc isn't going to cause the kinds of problems you're having, Ken. _________________ This help is informational only. you sure? It sounds like he has trouble with more than one program open at a time (perhaps page faults are slowing the system down). Defragging would reduce pagefaults, and perhaps speed the system up. _________________ SubSpace Discretion: A Third Generation SubSpace Client |

18,6GB, that's my HDD. And it kinda worked, but comp is still a bit slow, good at times and I can have many programs open at the same time..
but I still think I will reformat my comp,
I don't have any super-important stuff on it.. I have some semi-important stuff but because I don't have a cd-burner I can't save it... Well I have a 128Mb Mp3-player..
Anyways, if I reformat my comp, I'd like to hear ur opinions of what is a good free antivirus (free stuff is usually not so good, I know)

18,6GB? Sounds like the European form of 18.6GB to me. |

If he meant that, newb, it would've made even less sense.
He said he had 18.6 GB DDR, where DDR would be the RAM.
If he said he has 186GB DDR, it would even get harder to believe that.
He has 18.6 (most manufacturers would call this 20GB) GB of HDD.
In this country we use "1.000.000,00" where most of you would probably use "1,000,000.00" but it's not important enough in this thread to whine about it, Purge. |
