Subspace was never designed to make money. It was a proof of concept for how you could have a real-time massively multiplier game back in the days when the average person had a good connection speed of a 28k modem, and 56k modems were smoking fast that only the rich kids in big cities had because to connect to a 56k line, you had to pay more to get chance of connecting to a 56k receiver.

The amusing thing about SubSpace is that it had so many skeleton groundworks for ways to make money out of it, none of which was ever followed through.

Infantry, if ever managed to make a substantiated consumer base, could easily live off advertising for big companies.
Could make anything from billboards across the battlefield landscape to animated gifs on sides of walls to items in the store with small pictures on them (IE nike and addidas shoes for +max speed, coca cola for +2 HP regen, etc. such).
Hell, could even make vehicles that had big banners and logos painted on their sides or make playable characters whose appearance/name was nothing but a big commercial for someone.
It would've had no problem to put links at the menus in-game and out-game for sponsor companies as well as making said gifs clickable which would link one to the appropriate site (adviseable only from spec or safety, of course, unless you feel like losing the bounty).

Like most pioneers, they ended up eating dust and not finding any gold.

If I was shanky, I wouldn't just sit there on the PC, I would go out and bring in a small tub full of warm water and plug your hand in it.
If that's not shank but your roommate, then he's even moreso neglegeant in the roomie's job.

My cat ussualy come and sleep on top of me after I'm already asleep.
