 |

Hi guys
According to the settings description the 'Gravity' setting works according to the formula
R = 1.325 * (G^.507)
Where R is in tiles and G is the setting..
So I'm trying to make the most powerful wormhole allowed and therefore if it's in the center I assume the radius must be 512 tiles (half the arena). But when I solve it for 512 and get 126669 and plug that value in, the wormhole is fairly weak and also REPELS instead of attracts.
I realize this probably has something to do with value-cycling or even an overflow of some sort.. but you guys have tons of experience and could hopefully save me the trip to hassle-ville by giving me what you know on wormholes.
Thanks in advance,
underdog

It's an overflow.
Max value is 32767. Solve the equation and you'll find that the max pull distance is 257 tiles. No way around this. Sorry. _________________ Hyperspace Owner

Thank you Dr. Brain,
Another question then:
If two wormholes are next to each other, is the gravity in the space affected by both doubled?

| I think the laws of subspace gravity obey the principal of superposition, so yes, the gravity would be nearly doubled at distances where the space between the wormholes is insignificant. |

| It would be nice to let different wormholes have different strengths, might this be possible with regions somehow/someday? |

| No. Wormhole settings are 100% client side. Regions are 100% server side. |

The only way to remove a wormhole is to take it off of the map. If you had a bot that dropped bricks (tricky) around the wormhole, it might keep people from falling in, but the gravity would still be there. _________________

| A bot would be able to change settings and control the gravity of the wormhole, though. |

and you could override the graphic so it's completely black and put an animated lvz over the wormhole which you can toggle. Players that fly into it will still be warped though. _________________ SubSpace Discretion: A Third Generation SubSpace Client |
