I like a setting were you can set in how far away (in pixles or tiles it dosen't matter for me) you can be to attach to some one for example I'de like it for a arena to me only 1 tile away intill you can attach to the person you want to attach to so it gives it as you just jumping onto the ship instead of magically warping to the exact spot where that person is and attaching . |

I thought so too, but then I thought "hey I'm high on Ammonia right now and dismissed myself as too foolish and crazy at the moment to think straight". I'm glad I was wrong. _________________ Oldbie Server Help |

Wouldn't that cause the client to hang in nothingness while waiting for the attach to be accepted? It always seems like there is a lag between sending the attach request and actually attaching, during which the ship disappears and you don't receive position packets from your old spot. _________________

You could always send the client an attach ID of -1, like as if the person he attached to issued a disattach request. The player will still have that weird attach lag, but could get him out faster than if waiting for a timeout. |

This would be doable in the variation of SubSpace that I dream about (called Dreamtinuum?) Ideally, servers would be able to send executable code for the client to interpret. (It would be interpreted Forth, so that a rogue server cannot rape a visitor's computer, while still remaining fast.) But anyway...
You could always punish ships for trying an invalid attachment by giving an engine shutdown. |

If you had the setting as 0 it could just be set as a reagular attach and you can attach any were meaning the setting dosen't apply or if your too far away to attach the system just would not let it attach just as if you were trying to attach to a non-attachble ship. |
