				| Those are what I use. Atleast Ad-Aware is better then SpyBot or something. | |

				| Not really. Spybot detects some definitions that Ad-Aware couldn't get. | |

				| I use Ad-Aware, coupled with CCleaner (free!!! and personally recommended) , TweakReg (free-version), and FireFox. Thats all I do to keep my computer "spyware" free :X lol _________________

				| SpyBot only detects malicious codes and bots, while Ad-Aware removes spyware, and anything spybot can probably do. Anyway, we got off topic.

...And Spybot won the 'Top Download of the Day' on TechTV!

				| I refused to reply because of the off-topic posts, but, now you people are going too far.
Ad-aware and Spybot S&D both are good programs for people who are dumb enough to get owned by ad- and/or spyware.

Ad-aware was made for removing adware (notice the "Ad" in "Ad-aware", Spybot S&D was made for removing spyware and removing sensitive files/registry entries.
They are good at what they're made for, don't argue about that, they differ in purpose and therefore shouldn't be compared.
They're only there to help you, you are supposed to keep your computer clean, if you need a program to do it for you then you're (too) late.

I never got any spy/adware, the closest was the auto-update feature of MS Media Player which I accidentally opened, but now I made sure it won't do that anymore.
You don't need such software though, if you know what you're doing.

People who are desperate would be able to use Hitman Pro, but I think it isn't available in English (yet).

The closest to spy/adware checking tool I use is an old version of hijackthis to see which browser extensions are installed, and to easily remove them (browsing through your registry with regedit can be a pain).

Oh yeah, people who can't handle IE shouldn't be allowed to browse the web.
