Happens once in a while. I think it's some subtle bug in the menu code with a bitmap handle getting corrupted. Never been able to find it. _________________ 4,691 irradiated haggis!

One of those "I-am-too-lazy/lame-to-build-my-own-html-index-for-my-files" content managing systems D1st0rt uses.

you're damn right I am, I hand coded all previous websites I have done, the last one in ASP.NET since that's the server I had, and I didn't feel like it was necessary

Content management is dumb. It takes very little time to add your own crap, and the code looks much prettier. _________________ This help is informational only. What wheel?
Those pre-made things are ugly, and you won't win any prize in an originality contest.
It's easy to just make an index, and even if you're too lazy to do that, the index page generated by the webserver is better, cleaner and makes more sense.
If I understand your "Why reinvent the wheel?" correctly, I think you're being naive.
What if the web (or a smaller range of websites: the Continuum community) would only have such pre-made website lay-out's which can be slightly modified, wouldn't this be a damn boring place?
You're not reinventing "the wheel", crappy pre-made websites are triangle-shaped, they're far from being wheels.
Anyway, nice topic switch.

It means I would actually be able to find content on some websites, and others it would make look actually prettier. Another bonus would be google would work a hell of a lot better (can't search flash) and you could easily resize and reformat pages to work well on cellphones, or even design a mini-web browser to use in games even.
I'm sorry. I'm an engineer. I'd rather have function over form anytime.

Look at sscentral.com, built from scratch I'm guessing. It's falling apart all over the place and still isn't even finished. subspacehq.com is probably the only decent website, although I very rarely visit it.
I think someone should host SS Times again so players can submit news regularly, and with a filter option so I don't have to see squad/league news.

I agree on some pages things are hard to find, but I think that's the same for the crappy pre-made websites.
Some websites really mess everything up, sometimes it's just like a big maze.
The last time I saw D1st0rt's website I thought that was a small maze too.
I think if you'd rather have function over form you'd choose for the small home-made websites than one of those bloated pre-made ones.

I don't think of it as a small maze, because I have set up many ways to get to the same thing, and if you guys want I can give accounts out for people to post news. The reason I picked this layout is that I made my own but it was terrible.

I think it's pretty cool how spiders/bots/crawlers can't index flash (although, google claims to have a very advanced bot, which can index pdf files, flash would be a little harder, but if they're so "1337" why not?).
I like putting "Disallow: /" for all User-agents in a robots.txt, but using flash makes them unable of indexing your page, even if they disrespect the robots.txt.
Indeed, I hate crawlers/robots/spiders, let them die instead of letting them take your personal information and cache it/put it on the web once more in a place you can't control (on google you can request removal of indexed parts, but that sucks and takes months)!
I'm smelling MGB power here.
Me thinks this site is pretty nice (has nothing to do with SS, I know, whatever), it's not really user-friendly though.

I'm not sure if I'm the only one whose gone to a flash page, and navigated through their "pages"; and accidentally clicked the back button on the browser, thinking of going back to a previous flash "page". Thats the only anoying thing I find about flash. And some take extremely too long to load on dialup.
Oh and yeah, I'd like to see SS Times start up again, simply because SubspaceHQ doesn't report hardly anything useful. Except for the few once a month articles.
