What a load of bull.
Got to love a good ass lick.
Lets be a tad more truthful though, shall we now, here's the REAL scope:
SubSpace is a multiplayer online/only game (MPOG) primarily designed and created by Jeff Petersen, Rod Humble and Juan Sanchez, along with a misc development support crew (PR, sound/music, hosting, etc.).
SubSpace allows you to play many different zones, each with their unique style of gameplay, and each with unique players.
The software was distributed while including the server software, allowing the players to run and control their own games.
After the owners went bunkrupt, and sold their rights to a company that for some long time was not even aware it possesed the rights, and even since then have still to show any interest in it, the game was continuely distributed by the remaining players and it is now played for free illegaly.
Although, as said, it seems (they rarely spoke in regards to the game, infact they only spoke on it once or twice and they never said anything about discontinuing its current handling by the players) the current owners don't care and left it in the hands of its current community.
Since no one had the source or any other knowledge to access the client or server, the game was left in an "as is" condition, and many flaws were unfixed and caused a high need for game "police" (moderators) staff presence around the clock and regulations being made.
Continuum is an illegaly (breach the VIE EULA of VIE's subspace client) made client for the SubSpace game by reverse engineering the original VIE's client of SubSpace and coding a new client from the information gained.
Continuum is maintained by an influencial closed group of "powerful" (in the game) "upper class" of players who have heavily tied roots in the community and rule it from their virtual "ivory towers" position.
Again, the owners don't seem to care, so using it is alright as it seems (infact the owners seem to have some kind of an occasional relationship with the continuum coder/hacker).
This new client also offers improved performances (such as the color depth being enhanced from mere 256 onto 32bit) and features not before present or possible.
For claimed security reasons, the new client is closed-source, and as such fixes/new features are only available at the coder's leisure.
Almost all of the game's playing zones now forbid use of the old original client, due to security breaches and authority enforcing deficiences it has, and exclusively use the new continuum client.
Overall, the game is very fun and the community is very vibrant, a must try!
Warning : Players have complained that the game is very addictive and the joy they gained from it overshadowed any activity they had in the real world. A wide array of reports have been filed regarding loss of jobs, family event invitations and long-life sex partner or girl/boyfriend quitting their relationship. |

He's probably mad that he can't lock the pages...
I was thinking of making the Continuum and SubSpace pages a bit more indepth and well-written from a historical point of view. _________________ Oldbie Server Help |

WTF you gerbil, I gave you modules extensions to fuck around with at your heart's content.
The work I've done at SSCX is much more accurate and close to the source than this is.
The only page I locked was the VIE one, and had I not done that, who knows what those SSC brats or trench newbs or whoever would've done to it. |

Well then, since you like them so much, here's another ad hominem for you: you are named pests, most likely, you are a pest. A troll.
Why do you even open your lips, what do you know of SS? Not much I am certain.
SSCX is as close as it comes to being the pillar of subspace.
Via xalimar's generosity it is that most this game has been kept going for as long as it had.
Creating an open-ended wiki interface on his site could easily be defined as the first and biggest "player-ran" aspect of allowing players to truely be involved in the game, or that which relates to it, in years' time of this game's history.
Xalimar could easily put up his own BIASed version and oppinion on things, like everyone else had done, yet, he choose to give the players a free hand in defining the site and building a community.
A brave feat, which I feel, did not get the attention it deserved, and quite frankly, put the community in a bad spot, shining the light on its true nature, of just how truely apathic and incompetent it is to act as a community and truely take interest and care in the game and in helping it, given the chance to (SSCX.net could easily become the new mecha for all-things-SS and general references to the game from the outside, an advertising link, etc.).
Now, mr. pest and nose pusher, why don't you defend your feeble argument.
All I've heard yet been three dumb kids yelling the same dumb sentence.
So, lets see you prove your little fallacy cry against sscx to be more than a mere illusion for your need for attention. |

I didn't say sscx was weak. I said it's the wrong place for a wiki. It's a host, not a library. |

I'm kinda lost at which argument your referring to, if any. Lets review my posts in this topic:
Pests wrote: | It's actually wikimedia. |
This is a proven fact. If you would direct yourself to the ASSS Wiki Main Page you would see an image that clearly reads "Powered by MediaWiki". Oh, I'm so sorry that I confused the name. Please forgive me.
This is not an argument. I was trying to find something to say to your response that shocked me. Thanks. Lets move on.

My reply was in response to this:

Which I think falls under the definition of Ad Hominem:
Ad Hominem: Rejection of a claim or argument on the basis of some irrelevant fact about the author of or the person presenting the claim or argument.
Anything else? |

Yes distort, no more mech warrior for me!
Cyan, the only one to have used the word "weak" in this entire thread, was you alone.
I didn't say you said SSCX was weak.
And if anything, a host creating a library for the free game he hosts is nothing short of being the right place for doing it.
The only reason that publishers host game sites instead of the games' developer is due to resources and funding (a huge fan site, not to mention the bandwidth for d/ls, gobbles up on those, and dev. studios rather focus them on actually making games, not on being webmasters).
Pests, I apologize.
Given your name, I threw an ad hominem and included you onto the group of stupid yelling brats without noticing you took no part in it. |

OK, let me fix that.
"I never said SSCX wasn't strong." There you go. Being strong has nothing to do with hosting a subspace library, though. |
