HI,
The billing server seem as flakey as ever, from the last time I set up a Zone ( about 6-8 years ago) I know that there are some problems with it.

I remenber that there was an isue about the first player to be added to the zone, So I logged in for the first time as "blank". Then left and came back as my name. The ID now read as 1 and 2, ok there.

But when I came in as another name and while I was there someone from the out side came in, those ID's are both 3 and both have the IP address of 127.0.0.1

Any sugestions on these and other billing quarks?

Hi
thanks for the quick response. I downloaded catids biller called SSBilling2.exe from his site. Version 1.11j seemed to be the latest ( unless I missed something). From what I have been able to test so far the user adding and squad create works fine, but it didn't score the points ( granted I haven't tested a lot " colect the 6 flags and get 1 point) . I tryed it severan times and even waited a few minutes before leaving. On the billing window I can see biller loading files and responding to the logon. see the attached text file

Any sugestions
Blake

11j is basically just 11 with a lot more features. A small zone doesn't normally need all those features so I don't normally recommend it.

About saving scores, are you sure you don't have Misc:ResetScoreOnFrequencyChange on or something? I know it works.

Hi again,
score reset on freq change is set to 0.
I just tried again and double checked, I had a score of 1 when i left.
what does the (0)(1)(0)(0)(0)(1)(0)(0) by the player mean in the billing window?

Could it be just the flag game scores?
Ill get someone to come in and kill me.

What is the proper way to shut down the billing server V1.11j?
The old one was Shift+F12

Well version 11 is 'q' so I'm assuming it's the same for 11j.

That's incomplete code. It turns out we're both right.

Code: Show/Hide
case 'e':
case 'E':
case 'q':
case 'Q':
case 'x':
case 'X':
   {
      Running = false;
   }
   break;

PostPosted: Sun Sep 19, 2004 9:02 pm    Post subject: Still having billing problems Reply to topic Reply with quote

Since my last post, I reveiwed the source code of the billing server version 11j. Since some keys ( q,x,... ) also exited the program, but acording to the code only 'X" should exit the program. So I tried to compile the source code, but I got 15 linking errors. So maybe the exe is not up to date.

So I downloaded the 11 version. This version does compile. but my problem still exists. The billing server does not record scores. When I leave the zone and look at the billing server window I see the message that the player is leaving with no score. Yet while in the game the player has a score.

The one interisting that I notice about these billers is that they do not use all avalible CPU cycles.

Does anyone have any more sugestions that I can look into?

Thanks in advance.

Randy

Hmmm. I know those billers work, so it must be a problem with subgame, I guess. There's a setting in server.ini, Misc:PointUpdateDiff (or something like that). I don't know what it does, but it sounds suspicious? What do you have that set to?

Also, what problems are you having compiling? I can probably help you with that.

Also, if you look in the code, you'll see that they both call sleep(), thus not using all CPU cycles. This really is smart if you think about it, since the biller does not have to have an instant response time. The only time a delay will be noticeable is logging in, and that's slow anyway.

HI,
the PointUpdateDiff=500
What does this parameter signify

as for compiling the 11j version.
Here is what I got when I tried to compile the cource code straight from the down load file.

I think that's the overall point difference at which the server sends the biller all the updated scoring information. But I really have no clue. icon_razz.gif

As for your errors, I can't believe you're getting them if you're using Catid's/SOS's project, but make sure that the linker is linking to "wsock32.lib". It's the only required library, btw, so you don't need to link to anything else.

Catid only used version 1, so that's what I recommended.

Hi,
Thanks for the help with compiling. The problem was a linking isue.

This is what is displayed in the billing window:

SubSpace Billing Server (Build 11)
Reading SUBBILL.INI... Done.
Reading Zone.dat: 0 zone entries found
Reading Banfree.dat: 0 banfree entries found
Reading Squad.dat: 1 squad entries found
Reading Ban.dat: 0 ban entries found
Reading User.dat: 4 user entries found
Reading User2.dat: 0 user2 entries found
Reading Op.dat: 0 operator entries found
Reading Score.dat: 0 score entries found
Connection request from 127.0.0.1:4775
6000 - Docking granted: Blakes Play Pen
6000 - Player leaving(INVALID)
6000 - Player entering(No Score): BW>blake7
6000 - BW>blake7>?chat=bigbomb
6000 - BW>blake7(0)(1)(0)(0)(0)(1)(0)(0)
6000 - BW>blake7(0)(2)(0)(0)(0)(2)(0)(0)
6000 - Player leaving(No Score): BW>blake7

Notice the player entering and player leaving!

Have any idea what these lines are for?
6000 - BW>blake7(0)(1)(0)(0)(0)(1)(0)(0)
6000 - BW>blake7(0)(2)(0)(0)(0)(2)(0)(0)
I collected the 6 flags in the game twice
4 points were aworded

Could the the problem be that the biller does not want to score points when there is only one person in the zone?
