- Solo Ace - 9.2%
- Mine GO BOOM - 3.4%
- D1st0rt - 2.9%
- Dr Brain - 2.8%
The problem with this, is that Sole Ace must use the crappiest browser around, because it seems as if it does not cache a single image. His Page Load/Item Hits ratio is 1:14. Everyone else in the top 20 averages 1:2. Only blackmoon has a worse Page/Hit ratio with 1:23, but he only uses 1% of the total bandwidth.
Anyways, Windows is 98%, Linux is 1.4%, 'Others' are 0.3% and Mac is 0.1%. IE is 80%, Mozilla is 16%, Opera is 1.7%, and Safari is 0.02%, which even WGet beats. And AWStats estimates that 10% of you guys have my forums bookmarked, or like to type it out in your address bar that often.

Yes, but I'm lazy, and only checked the IP->Names of the top couple. Whats weird is that Solo Ace uses three IPs, which take up #2, #4, and #5 on the list. I could have done more, but was afraid that Solo Ace would have been them too, thus I stopped at #6.
I thought I was going to be the top bandwidth sucker, since I check this page often, and try to read/glance at almost every topic.

Nice. I just moved IPs a few days ago. I probably would have beaten D1 otherwise _________________ Hyperspace Owner

Sorry?
I've been messing with a proxy lately, and this proxy prevents the Referer tag to be sent to webservers, and I guess it prevents images from being cached too.
Are you logging everything the browsers send to the server?
I doubt I will show up again in the list after the #5, but well, I'll stop loading these pages so often.

Oh, forums.minegoboom.com only uses 3% of the bandwidth allocated for it, so you being 9% of 3% is nothing. As for logs, I'm guessing you never looked at weblogs before? Every server you ever visited will probably log the HTTP request down somewhere. Usually, people just don't care, and leave the logs how they are. There are programs, such as awstats, that will filter the logs into little useful stats, such as search terms people use to visit the site, what file uses up more bandwidth than another, etc. Me being an engineer, I like this kind of useless knowledge, so I share.
As for your proxy, I'd suggest trying out better ones. Firefox has some extensions in which it will not send all external referances, which is what you are probably after. If you are afraid of people seeing what you do on the internet, webmasters are the least of your problems. Cookies/referals are passe now-a-days, and mean little.
So by all means, feel free to try and suck more bandwidth. I've got plenty to spare. I figure this could come as an assitances to you, to know that your online experience can be run a bit faster. If you really want to follow all the scary "people are watching look at porn" ideas, I'd recommend Squid. This will do everything you want to try and mask yourself (which won't work very well anyways), but also help you out by being a good proxy, in which it will correctly cache images/pages, and can make a 56k connection feel fast.

I almost always type out "forums.minegoboom.com" because I can usually hit CTRL+L, then type that faster than I can hit CTRL+B, find the bookmark and click it

mmm, plus I hate autocomplete, so that's off
when my computer's back up and I get Firefox running, I may just break down and make a bookmark link for my forums or actually organize them all into a folder and open them up simultaneously, whatever

I have seen my apache's access log, but I didn't see any of the Referer tag url's stored anywhere.
I wasn't referring to the webserver's logs, I just meant logging in general.
I admit I became more paranoid after I learned more about how things are communicating with eachother on the web, that's the reason why I started using some filtering proxy server (The Proxomitron) Dust recommended (if you use it, you should really turn textures off before puking at the GUI).
This connection is fast enough to browse without proxy or something.
I've been wondering though, popular websites log some of that stuff, like IP, User-agent and like for on Google, search queries.
People keep changing IP's (I will move soon again too) but well, how long do they keep those logs? I guess they are being rotated like every month but doesn't that information become useless after a few months?

I've keep every single hit logged on shanky.com/minegoboom.com since we started it. Then again, thats only like a couple of meg worth of stuff, and its only due to the fact that we are too lazy to ever clean it out.
As to when the data goes bad? Never. Most websites use it only to keep information on how often certain pages are viewed, what type of browsers/OS people are using when visiting the site. The ad people want every bit of information they can.
I tried Proxitrom a long time ago, but have found that Firefox + a good userContent.css works much better. Hell, I havn't even seen Google ads in over 6 months. People also pimp out the AdBlock, but my version is too old to use that correctly.
