Okay, I am converting my server to ASSS to free-up lag quantities and make it more customizable. I downloaded the Window's version of ASSS and un-zipped it. However, I don't know what to do from there, can someone give me a step-by-step guide?
I am sorry I sound like a noob, but I have never used ASSS ever. |

Join the club, ASSS is not officially supported for Windows; however, either you're using Dr Brains build of what, 1.2 or Catid's build of 1.7/8?; but read up on the ASSS user guide on www.sscx.net/asss/, it pretty much applies to the windows version as well.. _________________ Performance is often the art of cheating carefully. - James Gosling |

Splody has been writing some (useless, so far) Easy ASSS Guide and well, he put some ASSS thingies here.
Some directory info:
- /arenas - arena settings;
- /bin - binaries;
- /conf - settings (staff / game);
- /doc - documentation;
- /log - logs;
- /maps - level files;
- /src - source files.
About the configuration files/dirs in /conf:
- /groupdef.dir - in this directory are the files which allow you to configure command permissions;
- /svs - this is the directory where the svs settings are in, your own settings should have an own directory too in /conf;
- global.conf - your server's main configuration file;
- modules.conf - specify the modules which you want to be loaded on startup - read the note at the top;
- staff.conf - staff group specifications, also passwords for groups go here.
Smong has some modules on his ASSS page. |

What OS are you going to run it on?
Dr Brain wrote: | About switching to ASSS.
Don't do it unless you meet these three requirements:
1.) You need it. This one is very important. Don't move if you want 1 feature it can offer.
2.) You can code. This is a must. You wont find anyone who will do it for you.
3.) Slightly insane. Self explanatory. Usually fufilled by #2.
4.) You have no population to speak of. I made the mistake of not knowing this, and switched while I had a regular population. Only now, 8 months later do I have a population close to what I lost.
If you meet those, you can *think* about moving to ASSS. | [i] Quoted from this thread.
Do you meet those three requirements? |

I was obviously just quoting Brain's mistake (which he probably made on purpose).
Maybe there's a reason why I put a bold "three"?  |

I was saying he only had to meet three requirements because one of them was already met |

Whoops. I might have done that on purpose, but it was so long ago that I don't remember.
Good quote though. _________________ Hyperspace Owner

Grel fixed that a version or two ago. I forget exactly, because it didn't matter to me.
But it was fixed. |
