SubSpace is a 256 color game, and that's what you'll get. Feel free to make the tileset anything you want (use the FACTs program to split the bmp file out of a lvl, and to put it back in). How to make the pallete larger is different for each program, though most of the time its go likes Increase Color -> 16bit or 32bit. |

but ads dont display true 256, they have a restriction, dont they?
CLARIFICATION: I CAN make and use a tilset that does not use the subspace pallette? _________________ Signatures just seem so quaint. |

Switch to 16 bitmode. Have your graphics editor edit a 256 color image. Then go to continuum's Banner Editor. There you'll see the Continuum's 256 color pallete (the 256 color boxes). Screen copy the screen then in your graphics editor cut out only the color boxes into a new file. Then use 'create pallete from image' function (they are similar). Then you'll have the Continuum pallete in your graphics editor. |

Oh wait a minute. I just read your thing. You can't change the pallete. I mean Continuum uses only 1 pallete as far as I know. |

Helicon: Restriction? Eh? No... 256 everywhere in the game
KrynetiX: Continuum converts their colours into the default palette anyway, so there's no point in using any other palette |

not true sos, if i paste somethign with alot of colors in the origional tileset (default) it comes out nasty, in the game too.. but if i paste it into one that looks much better, it looks much better in the game.. the game doesnt know what colors SHOULD be there, it just knows what colors the tileset had on it, and which of those are within the 256 color pallette . |

The only way that would be possible is if the game would get the palette it uses from the map... well... yea, it's possible... but I'm still not quite sure... since everything else would be in map colours too and look like crap depending on the zone...
My guess is that it looks better, because the way Continuum adjusts the colours is better looking than the image editor when converting the palette(I've noticed this myself) |

RECAP(again)
continuum is a 256 color game (duh) but doesnt support all 256 colors in maps and banners.... you have to use its built-in template |

i think you can use any 256 colours, i don't know but i have seen different pallettes on different tilesets and shipsets and they where all kinds of colours.
use Paint Shop Pro to change pallettes _________________ Owner of CSAU Administration
