Im doing alot of mapping these days and got really annoyed of SSME and the userunfriendly lvztoolkit. I thought about programming an Editor wich includes some functions wich i badly need. Also, the PIC into map implemetation with lvz is a calculating nightmare so basically it would not be a big problem to write a cute lil interface for that. The problem is i dont really know much about c++ and wanted to ask where i can find informations about how SSME works/ wether its even possible to program such a thing with delphi. Any1 knows?

Its actually wouldn't be hard to put this into Delphi, as 90% of it would be GUI anyways.
The format for a LVL, you can find here, which explains about the bit packing of the lvl information, and how the tileset is just a bmp thrown up front. Someone worked on a graphicial lvl editor before, but was in VB, if that would help at all.
The LVZ information is in the toolkit. If you need any more information, feel free to ask. Everyone would love a much better editor to work with. |

Thx for the advice. I'll try make my way throught the FACTS source. Lets see wether i can understand some VB Does any1 know where i can find a site wich explains how SSME generates the LVL out of the bitcode wich is beeing explained in your lil tile tuorial? or best, where i can find the SSME source code, because that would explain 90% of the questions you have when you start programming Subspace related stuffi think. Maybe Priitk (he is the only one who holds the Subspace source code by now, eh?) knows something? |

SSME was made a long time ago, and the person who created it never released the source.
As for the bitcode stuff, that one website I linked to should have the answers you need. With that, you can get the X and Y coords, and the tile id. To create a lvl, you just create an X/Y/Tile bitcode like the one you extracted for each tile on the map, in any order you want, and tack them onto the end of the tileset. |
