It's like a PHP specialized editor, which looks like Notepad.

Isn't there an editor NVU, or NU that is free and cross-platform? Dr Brain was telling me about it. It seemed to be pretty close to Macromedia Dreamweaver; but free.

I know, but I haven't seen anything that can be compared to dreamweaver and is better in it.

I own Macromedia Studio MX and always have liked Dreamweaver. Though, I am looking into other editors being that I don't feel like having to pay for new versions.

Any editor that tries to hide the HTML code from you is crappy, IMO. I've seen pages written with dreamweaver, and although they may have looked good, the code was awful.

Hate to break it to you, cyan, but the code doesn't mean squat.

No one cares how pretty your html is formatted if your page looks like a P.O.S.

Yeah, have fun fixing/modifying those pages; especially if someone else is the one who has to do the work, and they dont use a wysiwyg editor.

Here is my list:

UltraEdit
MetaPad
NotePad
1st Page 2000

Dreamweaver
Front Page (good for shapes and stuff in XML)

Wrong.

Editors tend to use a lot of useless code and some are so poorly programmed that they insert everything through coordinates (bad idea!!).

Which would you go with?

I would most certainly do it myself, doesn't take much longer and it is better all around.

You can also code it in the code view, having a preview is good - you can even select an element and then work with it in the code view.

Just for plain html element usage dreamweaver puts quite clean code, it gets messy when you add/delete elements and try to make advanced, complex designs.

I still dislike dreamweaver's unreliability though and some other small mistakes.

Expect that preview doesn't even show how any browser will handle that code. Front page's preview isn't even the same as how IE handles it.

And seemed to work fine for me with IE at the time I used it back in 98 or something.
Maybe newer versions are screwed up.

Recent studies also proved, Ryan can't spell properly and hide behind ridiculous researches to excuse it.
Even though that his misspelling creates a valid word with an entire new meanning, which nontheless could still be used in an appropriate fashion given the sentence had been restructed properly.

In other, unrelated, news:
Tia Carrera(sp?) is wearing this really transparent outfit and seems that none noticed, because they tried to hide them, but her nipples are showing and damn she has those big'guns...

Maybe I can't spell in English.
Then again, it's not my native tongue.

So, unless the murphys are cantonese (mine go boom looks like an asian-western cross mixmax somewhat, no?), he's not looking pretty good.
