Post subject: I crashed Catid's biller

Theres quite a few problems.

I run the CZ network.
Today i tried to ?recyclezone
The biller gave me an error, with abort, retry, cancel
I retried, and biller crashed.
All zones went into standalone mode.
Then recycled and kicked everyone off.
At retry, all players get a msg that says user not allowed, see zone website, etc
this happens in ALL zones, even if allownewusers=1

also players get the no permission error

for players
on subgame:

on biller:
2345 - Player leaving(INVALID)

for my bot
on subgame:
Connection request from: CheeseBot
Sat Mar 17 19:22:25: Incompatible network protocol attempting to enter game (CheeseBot)(1689862838)(127.0.0.1)(sec=0)
Connection status read as terminated: CheeseBot

on biller:
1337 - Player entering(No Score): CheeseBot
1337 - Player leaving(No Score): CheeseBot
then 1337 - Player connection refused(Light flood): CheeseBot
then 1337 - Player connection ignored(Flood): CheeseBot

also, i made a fake clone zone
same errors. i rebooted, that was no fix.
ips are correct. ports are correct.

at some point, subgame showed
Sat Mar 17 18:55:15: Invalid login packet received (Cheese)(457620810)(127.0.0.1)(sec=0)
when players tried to enter (not anymore)

wtf is going on?

i cant get any help from tw because an idiot banned me from dev for afking. (oh well)

and im getting

then as time goes by, i get

only my zone gets multiples.

and in the stats.txt, theres 3 entries, not 1.

btw port usage:

subgame2 is using port i set and ports 2663-2671
ssbilling2 is using port i set
ddirserv is using ports 4990, 4991, 2863, 2864
continuum is using 1864, 1865

i know nothing of protocol >_>

I would probably just totally reinstall your biller, sounds like something is borked.

i did just that, only better.
I made a zip that has dir, biller, zone, and bot servers.
its quite easy to extract.
3 times now.

my bots can enter, but players/i cant.
perhaps its because bots use vie client?

when the biller crashed, im pretty sure it changed something on my comp.
does the server use the registry?
if so, where?

the msg you get on entry is
"this name does not have permission to play in the selected zone. See zone website or contact the zone admin for info on player permissions"

this sucks, it has thrown the brakes on my development

try deleting the player database off your server (user.dat) , it might reset some broken stuff

edit: nvm... just read that you re-installed the biller thing... i'm guessing user.dat got deleted in the process then...

i backup everything.
but the one im testing is blank.

bots can enter.
ppl can not.

i have reinstalled everything, and even changed ports.
still not working.
everything worked perfectly until the crash.
something got changed.

i cant even enter in standalone mode.
it changed something on my comp.

and samapico, its developer (1 p)

Your bots must be on vip.txt or on sysop.txt and have the sysop password.
You can also change your server.ini to allow VIE clients but that will also allow other people to spawn bots into your zone.

the bots were on moderate.txt and sysop.txt
guess that wasnt enough >: /

adding to vip.txt worked.
i dont like to fix things that way, though...
oh well
...for now.

we should fully test its limits, then rewrite it... if need be.
there is too many ways to break it.

also:
SSC has a command flood warning,
then kicks at the next ?

how can we replicate this?

Now that is **** right. Someone go rewrite Catid's biller from scratch (and making as "pixel" perfect clone as possible) using the latest C++ standards, with an additional secure MySQL connection support and a Linux compilation too.

Bleh, who will "save" us?

For the directory thing show us your [Directory] IP= from server.ini. If you put yourself in there 3 times that could be causing the 3 message's. Other than that it could just be a "feature" of the dirserv showing all possible IP's for the server.
