I am back in action and I am hosting the server called CBCC.

What does it stand for? Catid's Biller Cable Connection

Connection type: Cable - 5 Mbits downstream and 1 Mbit upstream.

#of zones to host: That will vary depending on how lag goes.

Uptime: From 9:30 AM to 10:30 PM (The 10:30 PM may be a variable)

Also, I am trying to get a FTP and HTTP service available too.

FTP will be free for accessing the files on your zone, but the HTTP will cost money if you want that kind of hosting.

The HTTP hosting supports: Apache, PHP, MySQL, CGI, Pearl, Java, HTML, JavaScript etc.

Approximate cost for HTTP hosting is roughly $7.00/mo based on how much you want out of the services.

Nobody is going to want a host that doesn't host 24/7. They want a reliable server on a real connection. No cable server is going to be able to support a decent amount of players. Your download really doesn't make a difference.

Also, nobody in their right mind is going to pay you $7 a month for http hosting. Everyone gives free zone/web hosting in this game. Why would we need to pay for it?

I'm sorry, but you should stick to simply playing. This 'server' of yours won't work.

So uh, how do you plan on getting zones up durring the time FTP down? Do users have to email you their zone files? If so... HAHAHA.... ok, I'm done.

Syrus: there is such a command as: *putfile and *getfile.

1stStrike: Don't be so negative, it worked before I left and it would work now. Also, about how everyone gives free web-hosting is very un-true. For an example, Trench Wars. If you don't have anything positive to say about it, then don't say anything. Put it this way, I am putting up my bandwidth and CPU and space for this and if all I get is insults, it isn't worth it. So lay off.

If you speak with other zone webmasters other than those big populated zones, you can recieve free webhosting. Their plans like unlimited space and bandwidth completely make yours obsolete. Taking, for example, 17th Parallel and SSCentral.

I as a zone host provide free web hosting. I don't charge a single dime. The point of getting a host is to have a stable server that is up 24/7. Anyone can run a zone off their own computer for half a day.

Trench wars provides web hosting at a fee to help pay for their server. You don't actually have to use their web hosting.

Nobody is forcing anybody to get webhosting. That is just a side offer I have. A simple convenience.

Also, I am in need of money to get a better computer and possibly connection.

From the sounds of your speed, you do not need to get a better connection...but somehow i doubt you are actually getting 1mb up..

366kbps up is not that fast. It's just a tad faster than mine, and when I have 1 zone running, and 4 people, it lags.

Donkano..if you are supposed to be getting 5download, 1 up, you're not. Talk to your cable company and ask them WTF they are doing.

Before I left I was hosting 4 zones and each 1 had about 2-6 players in constantly and the lag was only up to 130.

Don't shoot down donkano's hosting plans, not everyone wants 17th/sscentral/ssi webhosting anyway. I doubt they would get web hosting if they were banned from a big zone so small hosts are giving people a second chance.

Not to mention, if you're on cable, your speed is not dedicated, you're sharing with the rest of your comuunity. You have a possible 5mb/dn 1mb/u sure, but that's just the cap. If you ever reach it, let me know, because you'll have the only cable provider in the world that gives you the speed they claim.

Also keep in mind, most cable companies scan their network for people putting servers on their service. Look at your agreement, it will state that you cannot put servers on their cable line. Comcast/ATT has been known to zap people's cable modems because of this.

My ISP is perfectly fine with server running, as long as I don't cross my band-width by too much.

Also note that as soon as I get my webserver working it will be on 24/7 because it uses minimal bandwidth.

I would have the game server up 24/7, but during the night is when things go steady.

I have to agree with 1ststrike and his brutal honest pragmatism.

If you're going to host anyone, I suggest you just put your own silly zone and do wtfever you want with it.
Your idea of hosting on your allocated resources for the task simply aren't going to do for anything but a temporal testing.
