Sorry for being too interested, can't help it, but...
So it is dedicated, do you people have full rights on it? Or is it a shared host? What kinds of access do you guys have to the box? Which distro is it? |

Someone who doesn't know anything about computers isn't going to get a high speed internet connection. Data centers for colocated and/or dedicated servers are better environments for servers than at someone's bedrooms. I doubt you'd have professional service, security, power generators and advanced temperature control in your "server room". Colocated hosting allows you to mess at the physical server at the data center while the server is hanging on the big backbone. You could control it with some remote administration software. Is an OC12 or whatever even available for non-business people? Also, who cares about porn? You must be one of those "warez" guys. ![]() If I were the owner of a hosting company, or however it offers hosting to people I'd reject porn or warez too (except if the costumer would want a legal sex site hosted, but that's different to what you probably would want to do). |

Why do all these people here quote the (complete) last post?
It's not necessary to quote the last post! Only quote when giving a reply without quote might cause confusion or if you're replying to a specific part of the last post (or any other earlier post). Everyone here can actually read, some don't do a really good job on it, but we all know the order of posts in threads, and we can all look back up to what was said before. When you're in conversation with someone, you don't quote everything he/she said and then reply to it, do you? I won't whine about your punctuation, heh. Anyway, good luck with the server and 50 cent. |

Of course. A service called LightPath offers it and more for people that dwell in the city, the metropolitan. Also, a house can match up to a "server building" easily; just add the necessary components, and you're there. |

I believe MS-DOS and the former SSN had its own datacenter, but he claims to own the actual company that hosts the datacenter. Anyways, it seemed pretty good in performance on an OC-12 connection. |
