Can anyone think of any ridiculous reason why my bombs do no damage. the bombdamage level is set to 40. it may be good to know that at one point, we had fastbombing cd, but than we took the cd-fastbombing part out. ANY help is needed. bombs are quite important.

bombdamagelevel = 40... that doesn't sound like a lot to me... then again I don't know what your energy settings are...
maybe shrapnel damage is negative?
check inactiveshrapneldamage too...
Is there anything like *watchdamage for ASSS? They always do 0 damage? Any level?
These are the ridiculous reasons I can think of...

they're not ridiculous. they're something to help. 40 is a lot though actually cause the avg. energy is 130. is there a minimum bomb damage b4 it does no damage(as3)?. i'll check all the other stuff you suggested.

Try putting your current settings into the Bomb Calc and click around in the image. Will give you how much damage a bomb would do if it exploded there. The rings are the standard VIE proximity circles.

interesting, lvl 1 bomb=0 with settings, then 19 for lvl2, then so on. it must be the blast radius, which was 0 . i changed it to 5 though recently. i'll see if that fixes it. ty mgb!!

yes, i fixed it. to anyone wondering: the blast radius must be AT LEAST 30 in order to get a good effect with bombs. i changed mine to 50 and it's good for my zones settings, where bombs are only doing about 1/3 damage.

hm yeah.. blast radius... of course...
even with a direct hit, the bomb can hit at a radius of 16 pixels or so if it hits the corner of the ship, because it is relative to the ship's center. So if your radius is anything below that, most likely bombs won't do anything...
By the way, blast radius is calculated as a circle around the ship's center, while prox is the minimum distance in tiles from the EDGE of the ship at which bomb will explode, and it's a square, not a circle. Not directly related, but could be helpful I guess
