We are getting a bit too high in the non-Subspace related searches. This is causing us to get some Apache and other non-Subspace related users.

Any suggestions on how to make the site less non-SS friendly? I changed the text at the top header to mention that this is a game server site. Any suggestions for maybe what to place on the Register page? Maybe a good image of playing Subspace. Replace the go-back link with a link for Apache related forums?

Bot programs - ASSS programs - Random programs

Got any good screenshots? Should be something small, like 640x400 at most. Doesn't need detail, but enough to show that when signing up, this is for a game.

Put something like "Continuum/Subspace Server Help" as the page's title.

Ugh, it just looks ugly. But, to attempt to get a few less clicks, I've changed it so the index displays that in the title, but all other pages are just Server Help. Still need a good wording for what is right below Server Help in the top box up there.

Why make this less friendly?
We got some people here who deal with general IT/IS.
The more the merrier.
The more the knowledge poured into the forums the better.

And maybe we can interest some of those people into SS as well while at it.

Yeah, I do agree with Grav. What is this world coming to? This isn't the first time... it happened fairly recently, too.

But if you're intent on doing this, why not just display the real name of the forums?

(MineGoBoom Forums)

I'm trying to do the exact opposite. If someone wants help with Apache, there are other resources out there that can help them quicker and better than us. Someone needs help with IIS or shoutcast, there are spots dedicated to that.

Real name of the forums? These forums have always been part of what I called Server Help. They are hosted under minegoboom.com because I picked up an extra domain name for my own personal usage, and felt it would be nicer than serverforums.shanky.com, as phpbb runs with less hiccups under a top-level domain address. So the real name is Server Help: Forums. If I were to leave the community, which I have planned on before, I'd just hand it over completely to someone else.

Since it wouldn't be tacked on with a specific user, it would be painless as when my brother and I handed over our old Magic Help site, which later one went to become a much bigger site. Which, as I'm checking shanky.com/magic now, has now dissolved.

In the registration I would put a question like what is this game called, answers could be continuum or subspace. For the guest people, you could make it say: "I understand this is a game server help forum for continuum only."

I was being facetious.

And on the topic of Magic, if you ever wanted to get back into the game, now is the time to do it. Time Spiral is the first good set in a while. In all the tournaments(major ones) so far, the top 8 decklists have all been different. Do you have any idea how long it's been since that's happened?

Alot of the posts seem to be about setting up webservers and the like.

One good place to point them would be http://www.webhostingtalk.com/
