Trash Talk - Dynamic Ip after all?

Post subject: Dynamic Ip after all?
I call my isp, they tell me my ip is dynamic and they can't change it. I go to linksys and they told me how to do a hard factory default, Everything is reset back to 0. But then even after I change my modems ip (connecting directly to pc and typing ipconfig) I connect it to my router, it won't connect, after I recycle power to the router and modem it will connect, but with my old ip. How can I make my LinkSys BEFSR41 (version 1) router not go back to the old IP.

Oh and yes, the ip is different when it is connected directly to my pc.

Change the MAC address on your router. It should have it the option to select the default, clone your current computer's MAC, or set your own.

Idiots, huh. Since you couldn't come close to figuring out your problem, I guess that makes you an even bigger idiot?

I was looking at the macid tab and asking about it, but they told me not to mess with it. But MGB told me to, so I did.

And how does port forwarding solve the unchanging ip issue, that's what I was saying.

what purge is trying to say is that you shouldn't be calling them idiots since you couldn't even figure out how to do it yourself.

Several ISPs such as comcast register your service based on mac address, which is usually pulled from the first device used to connect which as mgb said you can clone on just about all routers. Our equipment does a similar concept but you can reset this by power cycling the radio when you attach a device with a new mac.

Just to note it varies with provider/equipment.

I have Indian friends I'm not being racist towards them. They even agree with me.

Let me port forward so I can change my IP. She never grasped that the game wasn't letting me play because my IP was banned from the server, she kept saying some ports have to be unblocked for it to work. I said, they are unblocked, I just need to change my IP. I did that for a few minutes, then she was like, what ports do the game use, I said them, she was like tellinig me to port forward when they already were. I kept telling her I don't need a port forward right now, I just need an ip change. But yea, her english wasn't that great. Atleast she tried.

so what? you could've listened to her - after all, she is there to help you.

hrmm.

So you're internet angry because some indian call center employee didn't know you wanted to change your address so you could bypass a ban in some game? Somehow I get the feeling you didn't tell her the entire problem nor did you mention anything about being "banned".

Hell, out of curiosity, why were you even banned in the first place and what game are you banned from?

Hello phong. Hows life in premier these days? Kind of funny that you pick this post to reply in, you bastard.

I said several times my IP was banned from the server. I was banned from the game because I tried to login too many times with a bad serial number. I change my cd keys and then changed my ip and now I can play online. What I told her was, someone got on my account and got my ip banned. sa_tongue.gif

anyways, I should have recorded it so you would she what I was saying.

We're "Internet angry" nerds from outer space who feel miserable and therefore try to make the life of others worse.

No, what I said wasn't mean, I was just stating a fact.
Does it really matter how BDwins fucked his network up, though? If the public Internet routers knew it was BDwinsAlt they were forwarding traffic for, they'd DoS themselves.
After all, BD was just trying to act cool by blaming some other person for his own stupidity.
