I want to setup a ftp server on my computer (Windows XP Pro); Does anyone know of any good programs that can assist me in doing this?

I use BulletProof 2.15 and I haven't had any problems with it. It's easy to install and easy to add user accounts.

Only downside I think is that I had to open 30,000 ports for it, though, that doesn't bother me at all.

I'm not sure, as I haven't tried it before, but there was a topic a while ago talking about different FTP Servers.

ServU and Bulletproof are the two more popular options. I think CuteFtp also has a server, not sure though. You can always use IIS too...

I only had to open port 21 for Bullet Proof, and Bullet Proof is by far the best in my opinion.

I think I used something called GuildFtp (not sure on name). It was awesome. I'll try and find some more info. It had all kind of settings and banning options.

FileZilla is a nice and free solution.

Both Serv-U and BulletProof are fine if you want to buy (*cough*warez*cough*) it.

Indeed, for windows FileZilla is my favorite.

My only problem, which is more or less a non-issue, is that you can only jail users to their home directory rather than setting them individually (IE: root: D:\ftp, home: D:\ftp\user).
I was going to change this myself, but... meh, requires changes to a lot of things for something pretty insignificant.

30,000 open ports doesn't bother you at all? I hope you don't have very many enemies that know your ip.
