Trash Talk - Will we be able to hack cars soon?

Post subject: Will we be able to hack cars soon?
To the people that know the internet well, and to the people who know a lot about electrical engineering (anything within within or near the focus of those topics):

Will we be able to hack cars? And when I say hack, I mean have cars do things they weren't supposed to do in the first place. Im referring to the Hybrids. A slot of stuff in the hybrids are electric, including the engine. Im not saying there aren't computers in cars already, but Im thinking about the future, when most(if not all) cars will be hybrids.

The image that sparked this question was the power button on the dashboard of a hybrid(while watching the a documentary on the discovery channel). It made me think of computers.

http://john1701a.com/prius/photos/Prius_Dashboard_AtNight.jpg (MGB: Don't leech images)

Thats just one.

So I was thinking - since people figured out how to modify things like PSPs, iPods, Operating systems etc... then do you think some day people will be using thier own software to modify hardware in hybrids?

I think Im going overboard with it, but its just another thought of mine.

Some new cars are now stolen using a laptop rather stealing the keys as its easier.

I dont see how you would get enjoyment out of steeling a car.

There's a film called 'Gone in 60 seconds' that's about stealing cars.
Maurauth - Mon Jul 17, 2006 9:33 am

You could do that now, if you found some way to connect into the cars system you could do stuff like altering the fuel injection.

Some people have already hacked thru keyless entry systems so I guess that's a start.

I've seen that film, but they are newbs now lol.

You can't hack the radio frequencies like that anymore as they got wise to it use rolling codes tongue.gif

Thats possible the manufactures know how to do it. It just getting hold of the "black book" or service engineers guide would be the difficult part. Using the same guide would basically help u steal them too so they arnt very easy to get hold of. In new cars the computer basically controls everything.

Yup pretty much. But dont you think they have ways to stop such acts? And yet again, whats the point in hacking cars because im sure they could trace your ass so easly and you would go to jail for multiple things.
Doc Flabby - Mon Jul 17, 2006 12:05 pm
Post subject:
No point unless you have the connections to get rid of the car as a professional thief would have. Remember they only catch the dumb criminals. Quite a few new cars now have bonnet alarms to try to prevent this kind of theft.

People have been hacking (in the general sence of the word) cars pretty much since there were invented i just see this as something new to play about with...

Well, since almost all cars nowdays come with an onboard computer.
As to make cars do things they weren't initially meant to...install the proper wiring onto the key areas and then the appropriate software/programming onto the onboard computer, perhaps install a form of remote radio communication and you have yourself a ghost car.
As for hacking...if enough control over the vehicle be handed over to the computers and their software will be sophisticated enough as well as preferably offer some kind of an API to the outside, then yes, the potential be definitely there.

I guess the same could be said for you. By the way, it was an opinion/sugestion.
Furthermore, take a look at the screen once in a while. This is Trash Talk, I can say whatever I want to say. So maybe you should be doing less typing.

Ever since he "Owned OF", he has had this attitude. Lemme tell ya something bub. You're what, 14? What gives you any kind of right to talk to someone who is older, wiser, stronger, and more mature than your little brain could ever comprehend? I feel sorry for you Apache. I pitty you.

Purge: I have never said that I was a holy person. Not once. I consider myself to be one of the most sinful people on the planet, and there are billions of people on the planet.

I only know of one "Holy" person, and that is Jesus Christ. If you consider someone to be "holy", then you are mistaken.

Anyways, my rant is over.

Okay, I would like you to find all my posts/topics (well, at least 90% of them!) that has the degree of "good, leave, die". You can't bear it? Well there is a ignore button you fucking ignoramus.

What hell is OF? Omega Fire? Listen here you bible-bashing ignorant piece of shit; Age doesn't matter one bit on the internet, I can talk shit or otherwise to say to anyone I want to.
I don't need some kind of "permission" to talk shit to people like you. (You meaning... Stupid)

From what you quote from the Bible, and how you claim to be the most sinful person on the internet - I actually pity you

Okay okay, whatever Confess. Most sinful person? You are so stupid trying to argue from that point you know.

Um. For seeming to quote the Bible so much... did you miss the part where it said Jesus's followers are holy? Well, actually, that's pretty much the whole New Testament. I think you need to re-read that, and look up a definition of "holy".

Stop giving Christianity a bad name, Confess. I mean it, you're being retarded.

And speaking of the Old Testament, here's my favorite passage:
Micah (in chapter 6, verses 7-8) wrote:
Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousand rivers of oil? Shall I offer my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

So you folks that say that the OT and NT are contradictory, shove it.

It's only natural for God to change from vindictive, jealous, and easily angered to gentle and forgiving as a wandering people find a place to settle.

Lol, Cyan, I don't necessarily believe he changed, but I do believe the OT is misinterpreted. What you're talking about is from the book of the 12, though, which are the prophets. The idea of God being the angry and destructive and vengeful god comes from Deuteronomistic law, which I personally think is all BS.

Just about everyone knows who I am and what alias I use, so you fail trying to reveal my identity?

Sorry, but you are so incorrect stating that I am retarded, saying that my vocabulary is nothing but a few sentences? Gee, aren't you the smart one! Once again Confess, you seem to fail at flaming.

Also, where did 70% and 90% come from exactly?
