You deleted partitions and expect them to still contain their data?
As Moondance said, get a screenshot of Windows' Disk Management page and post it here. Linux uses a different partitioning system than Windows, which is why Windows generally cannot see Linux partitions at all. If you install Ubuntu and select Ext3 for the file system, you can install drivers for Windows to read/write to it with full access, but there are some downfalls with it. Or you could just use Explore2FS. Under Ubuntu, it will auto-detect the NTFS partition and mount as read-only.
The easiest way to share data between the two is a FAT32 partition system. Both have full read/write access natively to this file system and works pretty flawlessly as long as your computer doesn't crash while accessing it. If you'd post both of your hard drive sizes, since you don't have anything left on them since you reinstalled Windows and formated the other, we can help assist you in picking out good partition sizes for everything.

Hey, sorry I didn't post earlier but (nearly) everything has been totally fixed!
It was pretty damn simpler than what Moondance said - Solo Ace told me just to delete all the partitioned bits in the Windows XP Professional setup disk section.
Everything is fine now, but thanks for your help Moondance and MGB.
Big thanks to Solo Ace as well

Heh, I didn't even pay attention to the fact you installed Ubuntu. So when I picked the random possibility the other part was taken by an EXT3 filesystem I was right!
Anyway, HAVE FUN LOOKING FOR YOUR DRIVERS WHILE I ENJOY THE SCARY SOUND OF MY NEW 7.1 SYSTEM. WOW THE WHITE STRIPES ARE LIKE... EVERYWHERE.

This thread is hilarious.
I used to have HD room disappear from time to time due to defects in the HD, scandisk helped there...getting a new HD helped more.
But never something as large as losing 80 gigs, haha.
I now have a backup flash-ram HD with 300gig, which is more than my working HD.
So I know I'm covered.
So....HAHAHA newb.
Your misfortune sux.
So did it suxed when my 30 gig HD tanked some years back along with lots of irrecoverable material (like old SS/INF screenshots, logs, banners, other games alpha screenshots, etc.).
Jinxs shift 'round the universe.

I fixed it dumbass. You can't exactly lose 80 gigs on a 80gig harddrive, idiot.
