When you hook up a wireless router to your laptop and desktop pc...Do you have to take a RJ-45 cable and plug it into your modem then into your router and take another RJ-45 or a CAT5 cable and plug it into your router then into your Desktop PC. And for the laptop you have to set up a wireless network connection?...

First let me point out that RJ45 is the little plastic thing on the end. The cable will be CAT5. But that's useless.

I think this is what you're asking.

Wall -> Modem, Modem -> Router, Router -> Desktop (physically), Router -> Laptop (wirelessly).

That'd be correct.
