I guess it's just me that I didn't really enjoy the original. The interface just seemed lacking to me.

Starcraft sucked. I guess this one will too.

Gerbil, given that SC was RTS and SC:Ghost was meant to be FPS, you've just made a cyan-grade comment.
I would expect spyed to come up with such; you, however, should know better.
You disappoint me...tsk tsk.

Warcraft in Space, was basically the initial description.
But you need to play it actually, before you can base an oppinion.

Starcraft was just a pale imitation of Warcraft.

Starcraft was and is an awesome game. My friends and I still play it from time to time at our lan parties.

I don't particularly like Starcraft myself, if I had to pick a similar game I would choose Red Alert. Anyway I own a copy of Starcraft mainly because it's supposed to be a classic.

Personaly, I prefer SC to WC1 or WC2.
And in that context, I liked it more than C&C:RA as well.
It is just sad that broodwars came as an expansion pack instead of being in the original release (speaking of medic units and the such, it seems like a given that they should've been there from the get go).
At its time, the SC campaign editor was certainly ahead of warcraft and anything else that I knew of.
I've seen user made campaigns and what not exploiting all the triggers really hard (from racing to RPG and semi-expansion campaigns and what not have you).
In this context, WarCraft 3 has really gone a step up.
I'm not in particular fond of the 3D display (too polygolinal/box-like for my taste), nice go from a 2D renderer I suppose...but the editor shows much of the engine's features prowess and that's lovely.
