.38 has not been released yet, and so there is no whatsnew yet. The pre release was to fix a video bug with some video card I think.

Continuum 0.38pr1
-----------------
Graphics
* Fixed thor explosions not showing on the radar
* Fixed graphics not beeing displayed after tasking out
* Fixed graphics beeing reloaded twice after tasking in, causing low-end computers to lag out during that process
* Fixed level and screen objects not showing up when changing arena while in chat window
* Fixed zone setting Frequency shift 0 crashing Continuum
* Added advanced option 'Always show common resolutions'. Checking this makes 800x600, 1024x768, 1200x1024, 1600x1200, 1920x1440 and 2048x1536 modes available for selecting even if DirectDraw says that these are not supported. Useful when DirectDraw detects your monitor maximum resolution wrong.
* Added advanced option 'Disable clipping'. Use this when you have problems with tasking in and out in fullscreen mode
* Fixed ship name displaying when ships with different sizes attached to eachother
User Interface
* Fixed attach, tick next and tick previous actions not working with joystick
I *hope* that new graphics reloading system will fix some crashes related to tasking out

Also another good fix in .38, lvzs are loaded compressed. This means that the files are no longer extracted to your zone's folders (don't need to keep the files twice, one zipped, one plain), and that each lvz can have its own objects without screwing up (though you still have to watch your overlaps of *objon's). This also allows for some people to still use their own images instead of a forced lvz. Example: Say you enter ASWZ and dislike the banner talking about leagues. You can use a lvz decompressor to figure out which filename it uses for it, and create an empty bmp of that image, place in your ASWZ zone's folder, and you will no longer see the standard one. (Nothing against you divine, just you got me thinking in aswz for an example.)
