I could live without this part.

@Grav: Ahh, so you're one of the ones that clicks "HERE" for every post I see?
Anyway, there are two situations I can think of right now when I would want to see the content. The first is if the ignored apologizes and expresses an intent to improve, like Assassin (whom I removed from my list). The second is if someone replies to a thread I created.

Yeah, but until then (As when a person doesn't show any improvement and does not reply to your topic you made), we don't really need to see a box saying that you ignored someone.

Perhaps what MGB was suggesting -- a bar no larger than the region used for the 'profile, pm, ignore, etc' buttons that has the same text as before?
Or if he really wants to be ambitious, an option to view said warnings -- as grav suggested, but perhaps on a per-user basis. So the message reads:
"You have chosen to ignore Cerium. Click here to view this post, here to unignore this user or here to ignore further warnings for this user."
I think if it were in micro-text in a small enough bar, it could be functional without being a waste of screen real estate.

The way I filter past the spam is by very quickly glancing through the thread, if I see a post next to an avatar of someone I recognise as usually having nothing good to say(newb's avatar, for example), I'll skip over it if it looks like it's some one-liner comment. Personally, I would like some avatar or font color ot distinguish something that would more likely be important or not, instead of the ignore.
