;; python modules:
;; pymod must be loaded before any "<py>" modules.
; pymod:pymod
; <py> fm_password
; <py> exec
; <py> fg_wz
; <py> fg_turf

the line where it says ; <py> fg_turf
i have to take out ';' to activate it.
well when i do that i run asss and as soon as i open it it imidiatly closes

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
second problem -creating arena
when i create arena first i have to put my name in global sysops-
[log_sysop]
all = hellz-hacker
and then when i log on into zone i type
*putfile cartoonworld

Did you remove the ; before pymod?

You need to put yourself into staff.conf. The log_sysop section is for a logging module that notifies online sysops of critical errors.

Do you have python installed?

I think Python versions 2.4 and 2.5 will work for ASSS.

Also, I recommend that you don't put a group password because then you'd have to always login through ?grplogin group:pw.

I agree. Lose the group password.

Also, you'll need to set your ?passwd unless you're running with a biller (most people aren't at this stage).

As for the python stuff, try running asss from inside a console window so it doesn't automatically close. That should give you some feedback that can help us determine what's going on.

After you download it, just install it on your machine.

Well, it's ?grplogin group:password, so in your case, it'd be: ?grplogin sysop:1993.

For the flags, make sure arenas/(default)/flags.conf is setup correctly so that there even are flags spawning in the arena.

The userguide says this about the grplogin command:
Arguments: <group name> <password>

You shouldn't put a space or colon (icon_smile.gif between the groupname and password.

You mean equals or colon? and should use a space?

Anyway, about the flags, give us the output of both "?lsmod" and "?lsmod -a"

neither does ASSS log me in as a sysop...

[GroupPasswords]
; this section is just "group-name = password"
; groups that aren't listed can't be logged into by password.
mod = moderatorpw
sysop = 1993
; the rest of the sections in this file are named after arena groups

[(global)]
; these are "playername = group"
hellz-hacker = sysop

and when i go in to zone i tried:
?grplogin sysop=1993
?grplogin sysop1993
?grplogin sysop:1993

Try doing a ?setpassword.
Dr Brain - Mon Jan 16, 2006 9:37 pm
Post subject:
After ?setpassword fails, try ?passwd (like I suggested 9 posts back).

Or do what I do and put this at the top of passwd.conf

You totally tried everything except what Smong said.

He suggested to use:
Code: Show/Hide
?grplogin sysop 123
