This is sort of off topic, but why do those retards do that? I would much rather have http://www.digit.org/ than my current ridiculously long domain, but of course it's just some useless website that I'm sure nobody visits. I mean, what do they get out of it??

People buy up domain names because as products come out in the future with the same or similar names they will be able to sell them for a much larger profit.
It's just like buying and selling stocks. You buy so you can eventually sell.

Those awful search pages should be illegal. Its clear the site isnt in use when you see one of those. Leave it to uneducated law makers to leave large loopholes in the only useful IT-related laws.
