My first guess is (without looking at the files) that a firewall is blocking the server from sending its name to the directory server.

My firewall has been set to grant access.

In server.ini, make the [Directory]Port=4991, [Billing]IP=localhost, [Misc]ServerIP=yourIP, and make sure you've forwarded port 2000 if you're on a router.

My zone is now in my list but does not connect, and after a while subgame.exe says Connection to billing server timed out.

That also applies to firewalls as well.

Newb, he said that it doesn't connect. Seems like you didn't read it so well.

I don't think it is my firewall.

Why do you have your server's ip in the directory listing? I HIGHLY doubt your server is a directory listing as well.

He owns the ISP? Cool. sa_tongue.gif

Having a bunch of wrong IP addresses in your directory server list isn't such a problem, although the network behind it might start to whine. sa_tongue.gif

Anyway...
Since when is port forwarding required for a biller connection staying on the network? It stays on the "local loopback" (127.0.0.1). Guess why it's named "local", it won't go on the network.
You don't need the forward for your biller (port 185).
Do your homework, Contempt.

Your current setup should work, Stew2000.
Are you sure you restarted both programs?

Also, are you sure the firewall isn't messing with your local loopback? It should actually let subgame connect to subbill.

Try turning your firewall off for a few, and then see if that does anything.

Otherwise, I'm not sure if subgame attempts to resolve the "localhost" string to an IP address, but your computer's static hostname "localhost" to 127.0.0.1 might be gone (which is really doubtful).
To see if this happened, the easiest way, I think, is Start -> Run, then type ping -t localhost and see if it's trying to ping 127.0.0.1.

If the ping even times out your firewall is probably messing with your local loopback. And in that case I'd like to know what kind of firewall you're running. icon_sad.gif

I mean't to say, He pays for the ISP, I have FREE internet biggrin.gif

This is strange, subbill runs, subgame runs, the zone is in the zone list, my sister can see my zone from her PC, my ping is "pinging", and yet the game does not connect to my server, puzzling icon_eek.gif

Hmm. This kind of sounds like the problem that I'm having, except on the intranet for you, Stew.

What does subbill and subgame say when you try to connect? Also, you might try changing the port, scoreid, and serverid for the zone.

Try SSB2. Subbill isn't very reliable.

(When are you going to start including it in the server.zip, MGB?)

I think you should start all over again with your configs, then make sure you only make necessary changes when trying to get it to work.
