Heh was browsing the web and caught something intresting about Sony Infantry Online.:

Quote:
Infantry is a science fiction game of tactical combat in which the player develops his character down his/her own path. From the makers of SubSpace. Contains Action/Strategy/RPG elements.

The main reason Infantry got off the ground so well, was because of that fact. Lots of Subspace players, wanting an official game that may not fall off the face of the earth if some host wonders where their bandwidth is going to, went on to Infantry and beta tested it. For the first year, pretty much everyone played both games, which created a pretty big divide. People who thought Infantry was so much better, people who hated Infantry, and people who played both (and didn't sit in spec mode in the other game to bitch about it).

That's right MGB. I was the type of which I played on both. And I heard it all the time on both ends of how people were so 1-sided towards 1 game and so on.

I had played both until DSL, and cable connections created too much lag and I got fed up w/ their "get high speed inet access" when it's not an option in my area. Also quit playing infantry when SOE made it pay to play. That was probably the worse move ever.

Future events of implementation of an auto-ban for 24 hrs for lagging presented Sony issues with a lawsuite where the people said they were wrongfully denied access to service that they are paying for. I wish I had followed up on that to see if Sony won, Sony made a deal, or the people won their case. </digress>

Played both.
Now hate both.
INF engine is stronger than SS.
But INF got wasted.
SS is also dead.
So is Rod.
Jeff's no longer there.
Juan is a lost bretheren, seldomly approachable.

Long live long lost memories of better days.
