That's what you get for being lazy. I always throttle those damn subdomains tongue.gif

Also, someday I'm hopeful that you'll answer my PMs and add me to AIM/ICQ so I can discuss some aspects of my new biller with you. Someday..

Hm, as reply to the new ban for the omni explorer issue: so that was causing the "Server Load: 67 page(s) served in previous 5 minutes.". sa_tongue.gif

Nah, for some reason, that was Google. The decided that before, they never touched the ignore/download/etc pages that don't really have content. Now they went around to hitting those up.

Blocked the non-real pages with robots.txt now, which Google actually listens to. Also, Google only visits maybe once every three days, hits ~100 pages, and then hides again. Omni's crawlers used 5 different computers, all hitting everything until the site died, or they ran out of links.

Serves you right.

They are called OMNI, after all and we all know that all things omni are at the end really just ominous.

So erm is this crawler thing bad? What exactly does it do?
Mine GO BOOM - Thu Aug 25, 2005 4:33 pm

Umm, crawls websites. Imagine hitting every single link in every single page, from 5 different computers, as fast as you possibly can, with a computer. Also imagine that this server can usually give out maybe 5-10 pages a second, at peak conditions (php is slow).

Now assume you keep doing that, until the site went down, or you actually run out of links. For a forum, there are always links. Plus, when you create new sessions, every link has those little session ID tags. Well, for some reason, they keep browsing pages, using those session ids, but made up new ones for their next batch.

Someone once said that MySQL can only serve two requests at once?
So, if that is true, then the case being SQL is slow, not php.
Eitherway, it fucks up the poor forums and host bandwidth.

MySQL can serve more than two requests at once, or else it wouldn't be in use by several corporations, companies, and private developers.

Doesn't matter if it can only serve *one* request, php is still the bottleneck. MySQL can serve that one request faster than php can accept it and generate a page.

When was that image taken? Because it couldn't have been real recently... It doesn't have my name in it.

Good thing at least one of us has a functional cerebrum.

Given that server suggestions isn't exactly active, I'll give it a couple more months or so and say April - May.

I could read it just the same without the magnification, infact, less magnified it is more coherent and in focus.

Says: Wed Feb 09, 2005 11:19 am.

But as said, it's the suggestions forum, which is highly irregulary active.
So, given that we had 700 members at the time of picture and 860 now, I'll say this is more around from April to May.

Newb, how about you climb on one of them rockets and goto the moon and study their language then?
Dumbass.

Looking at the Statistics page with the New Users per Month display, at the very end of February, we had 710 users.

Taking a look at the server statistics for the month of February, it looks like it was probably one of the two days with larger spikes.

Green = bandwidth, yellow = page requests
