General Questions - asss......... Anonymous - Thu Aug 18, 2005 10:06 pm Post subject: asss.........
asss, sscu, n734, sfss, sscc, ssci, sscx, ssmc, ssi, ssq.... are all those different servers u can have, if yes, which is the best one and why, and another ?, if they are servers, what does it do for u, does it give u the ability to chang lvl and lvz settings?

A server is a computer running on a reasonably high bandwidth connection. People run clients which connect to a server on which to play a specific implementation of subspace. If you run the server (or are given permission) you can control what arenas exist, and what settings they use.

SSCX and SSCI (SSI) are the best.
SSCX is supposedly full and won't take anymore zones, but they've been saying that forever and haven't stopped taking them on - the only trick is you have to have a hookup (traditional SSC style zone dispersal ).
SSCI (SSI) is the next best, and will apparently soon be doing ASSS hosting. I'm not sure if 1stStrike goes for people that say "u" instead of "you", though - I s'pose if your zone is good enough and you're not an ass he might.
There isn't really an SSCU - TW & 17th are roughly hosted by the same things, Redstar and DSB are managed by SSI.
SFSS has been around a while, but never seems to have any zones make it - either the admins have bad taste or the server is laggy...or they're cursed maybe.
AFAIK the rest are all upstarts.

Im currently working in a zone hosted by SSMC. It's not laggy or anything... Of course the most people at a time we've had in it is 3 or 4... but soon we will be better. (I hope)
