There's got to be a better way, then having to create a new directory.. move over my config files, maps, etc ... Maybe not so much a patch file, but do a diff on all files on the asss dev machine.. and then just have an archive of those files that I can extract into an asss/ folder.

Er, this isn't be so hard. Just copy the contents of the bin directory over the old contents, and don't touch anything else. This may leave you with slightly-out-of-date config files as compared to the distributed ones, but a simple diff should help clear that up.

The only big issue moving from 1.3.6 to 1.4.0 is that you have to add bw_default to your modules.conf file.

Someone should grab gentoo's etc-update script and mod it to work with asss.

All it does is just use diff in a pretty way.

At least include security.so in the source distrobution like i've requested awhile back. *fumes* Time to write an upgrade segement in the wiki.

Er, when did you request that? I don't remember hearing it. Anyway, I put up http://sscx.net/asss/security-1.4.0.so.gz , and I'll try to remember to do the same for each new version.

I only vaguely remember the request (it was coined as a question). Mainly having to do with something not right in the 1.1.7 source and binary versions. So it's ancient history.

This is usually an issue with other software. IF I haven't updated in ages I have to sitdown and think what i need to copy over. Something like this..

"let's see here I need to copy those src/ sub directories.. my Makefile, but wait, what if there have been changes to Makefile? conf/ directory... wait, except for modules.conf because there could be some major change in there (better diff).. then everything else... has arenas/ changed? maybe.. "

Though this is more of a headache for major version changes.
