Post subject: SCOTUS ruling on Grokster
In a unanimous ruling, they found Grokster to be violating copyright law and should be held liable for it.

Quote:
"A few minutes ago, the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled unaniumously against Grokster today. This ruling means that developers of software violate federal copyright law when they provide computer users with the means to share music and movie files downloaded from the Internet. More info about the case here." There's not an entirely accurate statement - what The Supremes said is that "One who distributes a device with the object of promoting its use to infringe copyright ... is liable for the resulting acts of infringement by third parties using the device, regardless of the device's lawful uses." The promotion is the key part of that statement.

They're not the only ones violating copyright laws, though. icon_sad.gif

I fully agree with the SCOTUS. That doesn't happen too often. (Roe v. Wade grrrrrr)

I don't know I have to re-re-read the decision again. At first, I still initially respectfully disagree with the rulings they've issued over the past week. Stemming, Emminent Domain, Ten Commandments (1/2 okay, 1/2 not okay), Cable services do not need to share their lines w/ rivals, Grokster. I need to review their opinions and dissents someday.
