Sometimes I see unread posts as yellow, this is good. But most of the time they are all white, can you do it so unread posts look different from read ones? (e.g. a different icon)

Umm.. unread posts have the icon, while the read posts have the icon, if thats what you wanted.

you may want to make that a bit more apparent. especially on laptops that seems barely different... yellow and white can blur pretty easily. pretty low contrast

What happened was that I was reading a post, then I went off for lunch. I came back and finished reading it and went one level up (where you see all the titles). All the topics were now white, even if I hadn't read them.

Yea, it does that. The problem is with your cookie. Your cookie will timeout after a certian time of not using it, and regisiter all the new posts as not new posts anymore. There isnt an admin option to fix this, I have also noticed this on other boards as well. It gets annoying, but I dont think there is anything that can correct it.
icon, while the read posts have the 
icon, if thats what you wanted.
