If some files like sound effects and graphics are on the internet (and downloadable) and a zone is using them, arent you allowed to use them as well?

I've come across a problem with Agurus and he said something about me not allowed to use the files cause his zone uses them already. Also, he said something about blocking my IP.

Heres some of the log.

P Liquid Mer> Agurus, your sfx's are downloadable.
P Agurus> No
P Liquid Mer> want the link? they're downloadable
P Agurus> NO they are not, go ahead and ill netban your zone asshole
P Agurus> proof no
P Agurus> used by this zone no other can use

He just has attitude issues (or w/e you want to call it). Most of files found in newb zones can be found on the Internet or SSDL somehow someway. The best zones are those who can make their own-professional looking/quality graphics and sounds. This way it's unique.

Then people will just copy your work and use it without your permissions, etc. etc. It's an never-ending-cycle of SS sin.

ag shouldent be talking. If the gfx are on the internet and are downloadable and thats where he got them then it should be fine because they are for everybody. Just liek the gfx and sfx on www.subspacedownloads.com they are for everybody.

Well, Agurus himself can't block your zone's IP unless he has DIR server access to do so. However, he can block your IP from the zone.

And, yes, I do believe downloaded files can be used for other zones as well.

One whole year

But its not as bad as I\/Ir Beefie, where hes banned till 2055 11-03

Yawn. Mr. ban-happy. Yeah I forgot to mention in my post he has ZERO control over the entire SSC network. Just his little local zone. Feel free to play in SSCC Omega Fire

I guess I should say something....

I simply advised you to take them off as a common courtesy, seeing as how we were already using them. Not to mention that making a second halo zone and even using a few of the same files isn't going to get you too far anyways.

Sorry about the ban, I wouldnt have done so.

No, it depends entirely on the person who created the graphics (in the US anyways). Anyways you don't need a URL to get a different zone's files... they're already downloaded for Continuum yo use in .lvz files. That doesn't mean that you're allowed to use them in your zone though.

most people, again, violate copyright laws in their zones; i really doubt if anyone cares about taking other zone's materials. Actually I know this is the case. Sass has designed several maps, tilesets, and graphics; all to be ripped off by other zones who then give him a hard time claiming "they made it".

Sad thing is there's no way to stop this from happening. I include "ReadMe.txt" and "Copyright.txt" files in all my LVZs which contain the sources I've taken public-domain material from stating that you, the debuilder, are allowed to use these specific materials; Otherwise, it is against copyright laws of the US.

Though, there is practically no enforcement to these unless you have the registered copyright in Washington DC, which is about 30$ a pop, assuming you know how to do all the paperwork yourself and don't need a lawyer.

Liquid I dont care for your zone its lame and non orignal, plus for all i know you probally took our SFX, and placed them on websites and said I FOUND IT ON THE INTERNET!

Also if i found where a zone like Metal Gear CTF got its gfx and sfx dosn't mean i am gona start to use em? or some how i found Omega's fires nice tileset dosnt mean i can use them, it simpily isnt right, mainly depends on your host, shitty or not. But i can garauntee you one thing your zone isn't orignal and will never grow for all i care, as well I DO have certain deals from Microsoft, mainly b/c i work for them, and i wont go further on that. As well I agree with what Bak said.

Also i banned you so you wont be able to copy our setts, like you have in your zone, and 2055 11-03, for beefie is wrong, i can only ban max for 1 year, hes probally bullshitting as usual.

You're not acting professional as a zone owner to argue over things on public forum boards.
This is, also, a reason why you should not be running a zone.
You shouldn't be having such an attitude; Getting some intelligence instead would be better.
You're just acting like an idiot who doesn't seem to know what kind of attitude zone owners are supposed to have.
When someone makes a comment about your zone you reply with a "u could never get ssc", as I said before, you're just the proof that any moron can get SSC'd.
How you talk to people in your zone is pathetic, you could at least try to spell and use some correct grammar in your sentences when warning someone instead of going like "ILL BLOCK UR IP WITHO UT U EVEN KNO ASSH OLE".
I knew people on this game were dumb, but giving you and some other fag I won't say the name of a zone on SSC is ridiculous.

What? You work for Microsoft? As what? You clean their toilets?
I hope you and your zone will rest in piece, SSC obviously can't take so much retardness in one place.

This is going on the ignore list.

Just simply the fact, not specifically you Arg; but in SS in general. People wonder why new players don't stick around? Often times I'd say its because of Priitk and lack of development; but more I sit here on these forums and SSF, I realize it's because of abusive staff's, stupid ignorant players who have nothing better todo than to continually put other players down and make everyone elses life misserable.

So. I now leave this topic.

Just as a kind reminder, in the academic world, take something, don't credit its use, equals major trouble.

Think again Agurus. You didnt even bother letting me tell you the link. The files were not mine, and they were put up on Wednesday, December 12, 2001 20:41:11. I doubt your halo zone came before that.

So you call my zone lame and non original.. what if? does that mean its non playable? and By the way, my sets are entirely different from yours. I dont know how you could think they were the same.

I had the pub map from Gundam Wing in one of the map packs I dl'd from SSDL but didn't realize it until I actually went into GW. I told Death+ but he got mad and thought I was accusing him of stealing a map and claiming it as his. It appears to have been taken down since I downloaded it, but I dunno if he still is mad at me
