Just got an idea a while ago.. doesnt HAVE to be doen but im sure lots of ppl could see it as a convenience..
How bout a bot testing zone, for all bot makers.. cuz whenever i host my own zone to test bots it takes up all the room on my taskbar, lags a bit, etc, and pissing me off....... but if someone would help me with how to add a service on windows xp, that would help

all the bots would need sysop and some asshole would ruin the server like ban everyone.
plus most bots are specific to a certain arena so they'd need to upload files to the server, where anyone with sysop could steal private files.
maybe a modified ASSS server with restrictions... but I doubt anyone will modify ASSS to the point where it emulates a subgame server.

its easier to just run your own subgame and test bots. Then if they crash, you can get the error report and the compiler will show you where the error occured.

If you have too... get a second crappy computer, throw win2k on it and you dont have to worry about lag with all the bots. I ran my development server for Flagging Evolved from a 2nd computer with win2k and NOT winxp because of lag issues in the OS itself. I used a cheapie KVM switch and bought an extra mouse for it.
I still use it to bit torrent and crap, but now that my zone is hosted, I just do stuff in there now.

I haven't found lag issues w/ my bots when I've run them locally; w/ XP.

XP isn't that bad as long as it's not trying to do something itself (like windows explorer or something, which is slow). While it's idle and you're running a server, it's fine, you must have a different problem.

What in tarnation..last time I checked this was the "Zone Hosting" forum. This topic has nothing to do with hosting an actual zone. And no host in their right mind will do what you want.
Moved to zone junk as it's the closest thing to this topic. Since it is somewhat "zone" related however is mostly "junk".
lol.. shut off the d@mn theme's as well...
