General Questions - server prob

i made my own server with the help of shanky.com

i did everything they said...
but the zone appears red

, not green

and in subgame2.exe it sais that it is connected (yes, subbil is running too)

maybe it has something to do with a message in subgame2.exe ==> re-read settings: 0ms

what do i have to do!!

(the zone is called, Kill Zone)

More than likely you're behind a router/firewall. You need to open up the port for the server and most importantly for your specific problem open the port right after that so that it doesn't appear down on the zone list.

thats just the server re-reading the settings to see if theres any changes (im pretty sure thats what it is) and ms stands for.. dunno.. milliseconds?

What do you mean? Are you trying to run the server from a computer without a internet connection?

Also if your using Windows XP you most likely do have a firewall on if you haven't already turned off the one in XP.

Are you connected to a router? Explain how you are connected.

Also you'll probably be able to connect to the zone even though it is shown as being down on your zone list.

if your using an internet connection through a wireless router that is hooked up somewhere.. I think you have to go through some process (someone give him the link) .. I use a router for my laptop because my dad will kill me if I go on his comp.. hrm cause of the music d/ls.. well nvm that.. I tried to make a zone with my laptop, it was no go.. so u prolly have to configure ur router

@I'm Real: If you're trying to access the internet using another PC as a gateway, it would be much easier if you could just use that computer itself to host your servers. If not, get a router

then you need to setup port forwarding to the server. Look in the General Questions section of this site for a Stickied Router How-To... that should help you setup the router.

Test it, it should work.

That can't have anything to do with it since he's obviously getting the entry from the Dir servers.

Anyway, please copy and paste the text from both servers here, with an attempted login. Copy the text by selecting it with your mouse and hitting enter.

Off topic, but why isnt catid/sos's biller in the default server.zip? The subbill that comes with it is so laggy for ur comp and does nothing.. Would be helpful..

And also, why doesnt the server.ini default have the [Cpu] settings default to not take 100% CPU Usage? Dont really under stand

Simply because, it is -the- biller; and that is why it's distributed accordingly.

Yea i need some advice too... i made a zone and its green with ping 20 and i enter it but after a few seconds it says failed to connect server and the whatnots

1) You should have created a new thread with a more descriptive title like "Zone green but cannot enter".

2) You should actually attach your server.ini so we don't have to scroll through large posts.
