I have been given lots of suggestions of which Linux distro I should use for ASSS.
Right now I use RedHat 8.0 and it works pretty good, but I wonder if there are any better choise?

Uhhhhmmmm, I think I remember reading Grel saying something about x86 being the best choice for the time being...so whichever of those Dr Brain - Sun Jun 20, 2004 11:06 am Post subject:
If it works, who cares? SSCX-A is running gentoo, and I personally like that distro best, but I think they will all work fine.

What's the current uptime for the 'an asss test zone' on SSCX?
Hmm...
Only 8 days since the last reboot.
uptime: 8 days 16 hours 3 minutes 35 seconds

running on Linux 2.4.20-gentoo-r6, host: asss, machine: i686
Distro stability probably depends on what you're running on it, and how much. The best linux systems are usually the ones where components are built or compiled specifically for that system.
My slack desktop stayed up for a couple of months at the most, and when I recompiled the kernel it was even better because I wasn't trying to run java binaries on a slack kernel right off the cd (with SMP support for p4 HT ^^).
