ASSS doesn't seem to start because of a missing msvcr71.dll. I have winXP home edition. I downloaded this file and tried placing it in the asss directory, system and system32 folder, none of those seemed to work.

Asss gives me the error:
Unrecoverable error (5): Error in loading module 'scoring:persist'

The version I'm using is right off of catid's site, grabbed it so i could start learning some module writing

Remove everything in the data folder. See if that fixes it.

you also need msvcp71.dll

put them in your windows/system/

I had the same problem just needed to download both .dlls

can you get it to connect 50% ? I find my zone on the serverlist but when I add it it turns red. I'm thinking it's because I lack a billing server... should I use subbill? or should it work anyways?

Post subject:
nope, billing is unneeded. Just edit your zone.dat file and change your zone's ip to 127.0.0.1 . Your zone turning red probably has more to do with a firewall being up, so just do the above step and see if it works

Why the fuck does ASSS use .net?

Catid's compile uses it. He linked againt it, it doesn't actually *need* it.

Its just his compiler. This program changes his nasty .net project files back into beautiful .dsw and .dsp

Nasty? The ".NET" has nothing to do with those projects and it has nothing to do with your problem either, nothing nasty there, so far. icon_razz.gif
