Can anyone tell me what the thrust and speed settings are when you use the *super command?

experimentation is the key to understanding :]

Ahem tell that to yourself Erf.

"What's the max bullet speed?"

They're the max values possible, AFAIK. So just take the max values of the setting datatypes themselves.

Ok. Thanks. Where can I find the Max possible values then?

Well thrust and speed are both unsigned shorts. You can figure it out from there.

Are you sure it doesn't cap it cyan?

The maximum thrust, speed, and recharge of a *super ship are increased proportionally to the maximum values set in the server.cfg, but are not blindly set to the max value for the datatype.

Well, *super upgrades your ships thrust, speed, and recharge. Not exactly sure how much, but will always put it higher than your max settings. Also, it will give your ship set to max energy. Your bomb/bullet fire delay will be set to 10. Bomb thrust will be set to 0. Bomb/gun energy will be set to 0. X Radar, Anti Warp, Stealth, and Cloaking energy cost will be set to 0. Also your max carring amount for Burst, Repel, Decoy, Thor, Brick, Rocket, and Portal will be set to 255. And you will gain a special ability to ignore about 99% of all damage. This does me you CAN die if you take about a million damage at once (say from another super if timed right). These upgrades will stay with you even if you ship change.

Whenever you type *super, even if you already typed it before, will give you all of the above things plus a few more. Will set your gun/bomb level to 3. Gives you 31 sharpnel, prox, bouncies, multifire, X Radar, stealth, cloak, and AntiWarp. You will also get 255 of Repel, Burst, Wall, Decoy, Rocket, Portal, and Thor.

To remove your super ship, you will need to leave the arena. You can do this by re-entering the same arena (via ?go or ?arena) or quiting from the zone and re-entering.

If you re-entered arena from a safty, and the settings allow saved ships, you will still keep the speed, thrust, and recharge upgrades. So this is a neat trick to do sometimes. icon_smile.gif

Actually, I think the 255 issue was resolved, because I sat in an arena once just throwing out more than 255 decoys, and still had em. I know in SS1.34 and lower, it'd run out after some time.

Continuum treats *super ships differently than the VIE client. Also, some of those limits in the documentation are inaccurate.

When you *super, the max item settings (BurstMax,DecoyMax,etc) are set by the server to be 128 (with the exception of RepelMax, which is set to 117).

The VIE client initially gave you 64 of each item at the time of *super, but you could *prize up to the above max values. Regardless, it respected those max limits set by the server. Note, though, that it is not set to 255 and nor do you get stocked up to the max immediately after a *super.

Continuum, on the other hand, gives you 1000 of each item the moment you *super, which I'm sure is done to give the appearance of unlimited specials. You cannot *prize yourself any higher than that. In fact, you can't even *prize yourself back up to 1000 once you use some items. This is because after the *super takes affect, the limits above set by the server kick in and block any prizes until you use up enough items to fall below the limit. For example, if you used up 900 bursts, you could only prize yourself back up to 128. To get back up to 1000, simply *super again.

Max thrust/speed/recharge, as I said, are increased proportionally to the max values set in the cfg. The actual numbers, for the record, are as follows:

SuperMaxThrust = (5*MaxThrust)/2
SuperMaxSpeed = 3*MaxSpeed
SuperMaxRecharge = 16*MaxRecharge

Note that this implies that if you're not careful, you can cause the *super settings to 'wrap' the datatype (in this case, unsigned word/short) and cause strange things to happen, such as *super ships being slower than normal ships! (In order for this to happen, though, your normal ship speed must be set to an unplayably high value, so it's typically not an issue).
