ASSS Questions - subgame2 on ASSS Anonymous - Thu Apr 08, 2004 5:41 am Post subject: subgame2 on ASSS
This question may seem stupid to you but is "ASSS" like "subgame2" in the configuration? Can I clone the "server.ini", "server.cfg", "source.lvl", "_bzw.lvl" without changing and will "ASSS" be able to use them like "subgame2" does? Can I use "subbill" and stats plugins and "MERVbot", etc. on "ASSS" too?
_
Simplified question: Is "ASSS" 100% backwards compatible to "subgame2"?
_
Another question: Is there an "ASSS" version for Windows too?

You don't need everything inside quotes. No, ASSS's .conf settings are nothing close to subgame's server.ini file. The settings for each arena are close, but there have been a few changes and additions.
Right now, Catid has out the newest working Win32 binary releases for ASSS.

You can use arena .cfg with relativly few modifications as an ASSS conf file.
I usually #include some_setting.cfg in my arena.conf. Seems to work fine. Flags and balls and other things don't always work right, but the basics of the settings are all there.

I wrote a CFG to CONF converter for this very reason. It will take the old subgame cfgs and turn them into a working format for ASSS. Saves the trouble. For te most part, they are almost entirely identical in configuration.
