I changed my sysop password to my ss password. when I hit esc-c, it says only sysop can view settings.. or whatever. am I doing something wrong?

Depends on your server settings, but you might need to type *[sysop password] to log in as a sysop. The sysop password doesn't need to be same as your log in password, but make sure your name is in sysop.txt.

You can also append your SysOp password to your normal password in your profile:
[userpass]*[sysoppass]
So you get logged in automatic.

in short - you cannot change the sysop password to make it easier to be logged in
