Learn CSS, please. The thing is so tiny in width, I cannot stand to even read it. And the colors are a little too much the exact same.

Greyish text on greyish background isn't the prettiest.

Not bad. Don't forget to add a Doctype declaration at the top icon_razz.gif

I actually like the look of it, but Miney is right, it's just be hipper without the table elements.

I just want it to fill out my browser, instead of 70% dead space.

Which means I should fix my site...

ya but to make it not look gay everywhere you have to make everything scalable...boring

I actually like how it looks. If it'd fill whole browser space it would look gay. tongue.gif

Notice that most portal systems have somekind of table with lots of links and stuff on the left and right side of the main table which contains news and stuff like that. Since there's no such things in that page, why not just keep them empty so people aren't shocked about the different look? icon_smile.gif

Also the color them is nice.

hi

yeah, i agree with liito. icon_smile.gif

I changed the coulour of the text, it's a bit darker now, i woner how you like it.
White would look gay in my opinion(attachment)

btw, i fixed the thing, that everything is in center in Interent Explorer. So if you use IE it should look better now

Could you make your sig. shorter?

What resolution do you use?

Done.

btw, how's the black text?

I like it a lot how it is now. For those with low-res, why don't you make the width of your table a % instead of a set pixel value?
Smong - Sun Feb 22, 2004 12:21 pm
Post subject:
800x600
pixelsoft - Sun Feb 22, 2004 12:24 pm
Post subject:
that's very small, i even didn't know that there are still some people who use a resolution, which is lower than 1024x768...
well.. yeah, i'll probably do it with percents instead of pixels
Smong - Sun Feb 22, 2004 12:27 pm
Post subject:
Well, I find the icons and text are too small in any higher res. My monitor is supposed to be 17" but is probably like 16" viewable (I should really get a TFT and someone subpixel partitioning software or something).

Want to know why I dislike the width? Look at the images. The original.png is your original link. The wide.png is the 'wider' version. The percent is me changing the width=800 to 90%, and the width=750 to 95%.

Learn CSS, its pretty simple. You could then use div tags, and make this a lot more flexable for those with larger resolutions, but still keep the original spacing in the middle for things such as the links on the top. And it will allow you to do constant spacing between the 'news' section and the outside table frame.

90% of the linux messengers have those three protocols. Jabber also has gateways to those three. But the answer you are probably looking for is Trillian.

LIES! Trillian is a piece of shit. Miranda kicks ass.

As for CSS, use Google. There are plenty of tutorials.

Its pretty good. AIM still overtakes it if you leave it installed and forces miranda to disconnect from AIM.

Bonus is you can add your own SS chat protocol into it. I did that once (hacked the BNet chat client), but now I never use SS anymore.

Of course, required sysop/smod to enter a zone and stay in, too lazy to add checkcums to it. Thats the advantage of open source.

Nice, now 50% of the site I cannot read without selecting it. And the graphs I cannot read any text unless I turn my monitor's bightness setting to 100%.

I have my monitor's color temperature set lower, because it does same me some power (21" CRT), and because, to me, it gives a nicer feel to images and text. But, a down side, is that with really dark things (such as TMNT cartoon shows), I cannot see jack shit. Your site is like that too. Dark grey on black background doesn't work too well.

As for the rest of the style, it fits much nicer in any resolution. But try and pick some colors other than black, dark grey, and what ever shade of blue the rest is. I cannot remember some of the websites that has them, but there are ones out there in which you can pick a few colors (such as the ones you have now), and it will find other colors that will work well.
