Nope.

You probably don't want VB anyway. Go with C++ or Java.

VB is good few those new to programming "getting your feet wet"; but perhaps the energy should be focused learning an OOP lang. icon_smile.gif

i recommend python if you like basic syntax. ruby and sceme ( i don't recomend this one) are also available free. All 3 are scripting languages (i'd say VB is too, but that's my politik)

i learned perl before C++; and made C++ 100% easier to learn, to the point my c++ prof thought I was cheating since I actually understood what he was talking about... when the rest of class was like "huh?".. ROTFL

Continuing along the lines of the windows source, by developing for SS doesn't that mean you cannot become a paid games programmer?

Not really, since you didn't make a client, thus cannot use it for your resume. And if the bots you are making now, you'd put on your resume, trust me, you wouldn't get in very easily.

Most game programmer's resumes contain actual full games they made themselves, even if it is as simple as a Mario clone or something.

And if you want to make another SS client, as long as you don't support VIE's encryption, you are legally fine. And you don't use other's code without giving credit.
